M571-L
The Arctic M571-L comes in white and black. We have the white version here. As you can see, the mouse has the traditional Arctic Cooling coloring. The mouse is quite curvy. This might put some users off. If you are a lefty, look elsewhere. This mouse is not for you.
The bottom of the mouse contains the slick feet to allow it to glide over a surface with minimal friction. The "L" in the model name denotes that the mouse is white (as opposed to being a laser type). The bottom compartment is not a battery compartment, but it holds weights.
This type of feature is normally seen on high-end expensive mice from Logitech or the like. It is good to see Arctic include this option on their product. The M571-L with the full weight feels like a heavy, quality product. Heavier mice have a better feel, personally. You might not like the amount of weight, but it is user selectable. Have as much or as little as possible. Choice is a good thing. Each weight is 6.5 grams which is about .23 ounces.
The M571-L has an Arctic Cooling logo on the back of the top. To the front of the mouse, you have a few features that make this product unique. To the left of the scroll wheel (in this picture), is a rapid fire button. This is a great feature for FPS gamers. When you hold down that button, it continually left clicks until you release it. This is an excellent feature and no software is required. The button in the center of the mouse is the DPI adjustment.
The right side of the M571-L contains finger rests for two fingers. The contours are good and work well in practice. The entire surface is very curvy, so it is very important to try this out before buying it.
The DPI adjustment has three settings. The slowest speed has no LED lit. The middle speed has the green LED. The fastest speed is red, which means go! The slowest speed is 800 which is a good slow speed. We would have liked to see it a bit slower for photography work and for slower precision work. The second speed is 1600 which is pretty fast. You need to get used to it. Most gamers would choose this setting. The 2400 DPI settings is really way too fast. If you do twitch game play, you might like the speed. It was just too fast for us.
Comparing the M571-L to a standard size CD, it is about as long as the diameter. The size is good for a gaming mouse as it is big enough for big hands and a fair size for smaller hands. Since input devices are very subjective, it is best to try before you buy, if possible.
