Final Verdict
The HyperX Alloy FPS mechanical gaming keyboard retails for about $100 (Amazon) at the time of this review. At this price is is slightly less expensive than competing keyboards in the same category. While some may not like the loudness of Cherry MX Blue switches, there's something satisfying of audibly knowing when you've pressed a key. In terms of gaming, this is great. Consideration needs to be made in productivity environments where the loudness may present some annoying properties to others around you.
The lack of dedicated volume keys is a minus, but the sheer amount of additional functionality more than makes up for this. It is very strange that the USB port on the keyboard is only for charging. It feels like a missed opportunity. The keyboard can perform all the functionality without needing to load any software. That means that all the different lighted modes are available no matter what you plug it into. That alone is market leading. While it may not have the programmable keys that some like, you get a quality keyboard in a normal sized package for a good price. It is excellent to type on and great for gaming. There's no ghosting or blocking keys. This is exactly what you'd expect when you purchase a quality gaming keyboard.
