Live Event Application Uses GPS Ability of Today's Smartphones
Use of geo-locating brings ability to 'Check-in' to live events via iPhone
TEMPE, Ariz., June 28 -- Calibrus, Inc., located in Tempe, Arizona, a development company in Social Online Networking and Mobile Applications and leader in Third Party Verification Services (TPV) announced today development of its iPhone application utilizing embedded GPS for geo-location to maximize the user experience of the company's Live Event Social Networking Application.
The development of the Live Event Social Networking application (Code Name "Fanatic") from Calibrus, evolved from exhaustive observation of the fans user experience at live events. "Fanatic" was developed with the intent to provide a social network experience tailored to the fans of any particular performer, team or event. With the worldwide embrace of Social Networking and the group mentality of fans, what is needed is the ability to reach out to fans and for fans to interact. Combining the GPS technology found in most Smartphone's with "Fanatic", the benefits to fans, bands, teams, promoters, ticket venues and advertisers are as limitless as the need for information between them.
The application uses the phone's GPS to determine the event that the fan is attending. Through communication with the application service or a separate event service the application then retrieves relevant information on the event based on the user's GPS location, and allows the fan to "check-in" to the event through the application service. Promotional giveaways and the ability to see, communicate and share their live event experience with other friends using the application at the event magnify the user experience and personalize it to an extent that before now was unimaginable.
Tom Harker, CTO at Calibrus, stated, "The foresight of hardware developers to embed this technology has allowed us to make this application which turns live events from passive viewings into full blown fan-centric experiences, inviting you to participate with the event and your friends."
