Xirrus 802.11n Wi-Fi Arrays Provide a Robust Wireless Network for Irene McCormack Catholic College

Irene McCormack Selected Xirrus for Their Ability to Provide More Bandwidth with Fewer Devices Than Any Other Wi-Fi Vendor

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif., June 29 -- Xirrus®, the Wi-Fi "Power-Play" that delivers the most coverage, bandwidth, and user density in the industry, announced today the deployment of Xirrus high performance 802.11n Wi-Fi Arrays throughout the Irene McCormack Catholic College campus in Butler, Australia. Named after an Australian missionary who spent her life ministering to the impoverished and aiding the needy, Irene McCormack Catholic College strives to provide each student with the necessary education and life skills to accomplish great things. The college chose to deploy Xirrus Wi-Fi Arrays across their entire campus in order to provide seamless connectivity for all 853 students and 87 staff while also ensuring enough bandwidth and quality of service to support a one-to-one initiative for students.

"Wireless quickly became a necessity for us," said Nathan Fonceca, IT Manager at Irene McCormack Catholic College. "We are moving toward a one-to-one initiative and with that many laptops wireless was simply the best solution. We were introduced to Xirrus by a consultant and I was drawn to the way everything was built right into the Xirrus Array. The architecture of the Arrays makes managing the system easy and provides the best wireless environment for our students and staff. It's just a better solution in general."

Nathan continued by explaining their need for a robust wireless network, "Our College uses a video streaming program called ClickView® to supplement the curriculum. Videos are wirelessly streamed in every classroom and this requires quite a bit of bandwidth. We have six buildings arranged in blocks and with only six Arrays in total we were able to get everyone online with enough bandwidth to support our video streaming software. We stream a whole lot of video at this school and we haven't had any problems with the Xirrus network."

About Xirrus

Xirrus, the only Wi-Fi "Power-Play", manufacturers the Wi-Fi Array® architecture that displaces both overlay Wi-Fi offerings and switched Ethernet to the desktop.  The Wi-Fi Array integrates 4, 8, 12, 16, or 24 802.11abg+n radios coupled to a high-gain directional antenna system into a single device along with an onboard multi-gigabit switch, Wi-Fi controller, firewall, dedicated Wi-Fi threat sensor, and an embedded spectrum analyzer. The Wi-Fi Array provides more than enough bandwidth, security, and control to replace switched Ethernet to the desktop as the primary network connection. The Xirrus Wi-Fi Array delivers the most coverage, bandwidth, throughput, and user density on a per device and per system basis than anything else available on the market today - resulting in a solution that uses 75% fewer devices, cabling, switch ports, power, space, and installation time compared with any other offering.

Xirrus is a privately-held company headquartered in Thousand Oaks, California. For more information, please visit http://www.xirrus.com.
