SafetyWeb Acquires Leading Internet Security Technology Firm Odojo

The premier Internet safety service for parents now integrates Odojo's sophisticated technology to provide families with the most comprehensive set of online protection tools to prevent threats like cyber bullying, Internet addiction and online predators Enhanced algorithms will look for risky behavior across both the web and mobile phones

DENVER, July 6 -- SafetyWeb (http://www.safetyweb.com), the leading Internet safety, identity and reputation protection service for parents, announced today the acquisition of online security technology firm Odojo.  Odojo developed firebreak(TM) technology, allowing parents to monitor their children's social networks for inappropriate content and the Internet for leaks of children's personal information.

Launched in May 2010, SafetyWeb enables parents to continuously monitor their children's online social networking activity (e.g., Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Bebo, etc.) in real-time. Unlike programs that require computer installation, SafetyWeb runs on the Internet and can be accessed from anywhere, with almost any internet connected computer, device or mobile phone.

"Each family has a unique set of Internet safety concerns for their children, whether it is cyber bullying, exposure to predators, posting of sexually explicit photos and videos, and more," said Geoffrey Arone, co-founder and co-CEO of SafetyWeb.com.  "SafetyWeb's integration of Odojo's proprietary technology gives parents, for the first time ever, the ability to customize how they monitor their children by scouring every social network by key word, theme and specific types of activity. No other service is as sophisticated, comprehensive, and easy-to-use."

The acquisition follows SafetyWeb's recent $8 million in funding announcement, positioning the online safety service to now accelerate the implementation of new product features, such as the development of additional algorithms to identify dangers by category, such as "drugs," "sex," "suicide," "anorexia," "hate," and more.

The integration of Odojo's tools into SafetyWeb's already robust protection service will arm parents with a deeper layer of analysis into both mobile phone activity and online posts by and about their children.  It also gives parents the ability to customize the types of events they receive alerts about around specific terms and phrases such as "cyber bullying," "lewd activity," "drug use" and "harassment".

"With SafetyWeb already the market leader, we are thrilled to find a perfect fit for our technology into their platform. I am personally very excited to know that through SafetyWeb, parents will finally have a set of easy-to-use tools allowing them to protect and be a part of their children's digital lives," said Odojo founder, Mike Stemple, who now joins SafetyWeb as an advisor.

Mike draws from his successful history as an entrepreneur in mobile phone ventures like Skinit, to enhance SafetyWeb's coming mobile monitoring features providing parental alerts about who kids are talking to and texting.

The service will soon roll out new features such as the ability to incorporate data from cell phones, gaming consoles, criminal background checks and geo-location services, providing parents with a comprehensive dashboard that helps pinpoint concerning behavior. Since launch, over 2,000 affiliates are distributing SafetyWeb.

SafetyWeb is the only service that makes it easier to track public information about your children across all of the social networking sites.  SafetyWeb provides parents with easy-to-read weekly reports on their child's online activity and 24-hour access to website services for $10/month for the first child. SafetyWeb is also available as an iPhone application. To learn more or to get started, visit SafetyWeb.com.
