Queensland University of Technology to Unveil Worldwide PRINCE2(R) Research Results at Best Practice Showcase Australia

CANBERRA, Australia, July 23, 2010--     The Queensland University of Technology is to announce the results of a
major worldwide research project, sponsored by the APM Group, Office of
Government Commerce (OGC) and TSO, on 6th August at the Best Practice
Showcase in Sydney, Australia. The research analyses the impact of the
project management methodology PRINCE2 on project performance.

The research was undertaken collaboratively by the QUT Faculty of
Business and the Faculty of Engineering (School of Urban Development). The
key members of the research team were Richard Sargeant (chief investigator),
Professor Caroline Hatcher, Associate Professor Bambang Trigunarsyah, Dr
Vaughan Coffey and Dr Judy Kraatz. The research is entitled Creating Value in
Project Management using PRINCE2. For comparison, the study also conducted
parallel research on the impact of other contemporary project management
frameworks on project performance. Research participants were all experienced
project managers who have used PRINCE2 or other project management
frameworks. The participants were drawn from the ICT, construction, and
transport industries across UK, Europe, the US and Australia.

Frances Scarff, Head of Best Management Practice, the Office of
Government Commerce (OGC) in the UK, is delighted that this worldwide
research will be unveiled publicly in Australia.

"Australia and New Zealand are mature users of PRINCE2. As the Queensland
University of Technology undertook this research, it is fitting that the
participants at the Best Practice Showcase in Sydney will receive the first
presentation on the findings, and will hopefully benefit from the knowledge
they gain," Scarff said.

The APM Group's Chairman, Alan Harpham, will be a special guest at the
Best Practice Showcase in Sydney and has taken a close interest in the
results of the research.

"I am looking forward to meeting delegates from Australia, New Zealand
and the Asia Pacific in Sydney. PRINCE2 is designed to enable organisations
to manage projects more effectively and efficiently. I'm sure that research
that evaluates the efficacy of PRINCE2 and contributes to its further
development will be warmly welcomed by the project management community," Mr
Harpham said.

David Howell, Client Services Director, TSO, said, "QUT's research will
be of great interest to project managers around the world and we are looking
forward to its publication in August."

Professor Peter Little, the Executive Dean of the QUT Faculty of
Business, said that:

"QUT is thrilled to have been selected internationally to undertake such
a significant research study and is very excited by the results. It reflects
very positively on the interdisciplinary approach that QUT has adopted in
establishing itself as a major international provider of executive project
management education and research."

The results of the research will be presented at The Best Practice
Showcase by Richard Sargeant of the Queensland University of Technology. The
event takes place on August 6th at the SMC Conference and Function Centre,
Sydney, Australia. For further information and to register visit

day's programme.

    About the Best Practice Showcase

The Best Practice Showcase is organised by APMG-International, the
certification body which manages the PRINCE2 certifications and accredits
training organisations to deliver PRINCE2 courses. 2010 will be the first
year the event has been held in Australia, although it has been running in
the UK for eight years.

The event is a learning conference, designed to involve delegates in
interactive discussions and debates. A series of case study presentations
will Showcase OGC's best practice methodologies and how they are used in the
real world.

PRINCE2(R) is a Registered Trade Mark of the Office of Government
Commerce in the UK and other countries.
