Newtech Selects Exar's BitWackr(TM) for NAS Deduplication
Windows-Based Storage Appliance Offers Deduplication to Japanese Market
FREMONT, Calif., Aug. 2 -- Exar Corporation (NASDAQ:EXAR) today announced the selection of the BitWackr deduplication product by Newtech for their Supremacy NAS product. Newtech, a Japanese storage manufacturer, selected BitWackr for its ease of integration and support for SAS, SATA, and SSD disk drives.
Exar's BitWackr enables OEMs to incorporate in-line data deduplication and data compression into both Linux and Microsoft Windows-based servers and appliances. Adding deduplication and compression to primary or application data reduces storage costs and enables data to be retained on disk for longer periods of time while reducing both storage capital expenditures and operating expenses.
