LG Electronics Unveils Self-Diagnosing Customer Service Feature for Laundry Systems
'SmartDiagnosis' Makes Troubleshooting More Efficient, Helps Minimize Service Calls
ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J., Aug. 9 -- LG Electronics USA today launched a new self-diagnosis technology for LG clothes washers and dryers that delivers added convenience while saving consumers time and money.
Called SmartDiagnosis(TM), this LG-developed innovation helps customer service representatives quickly and efficiently troubleshoot mechanical issues over the phone, limiting costly, inconvenient service calls and in-home visits. The combination of this new feature, along with the unprecedented 10-year warranty on LG's Direct Drive washer motor, illustrates that the company's customer service is as reliable as its laundry products, according to Peter Reiner, senior vice president of marketing, LG Electronics USA.
"LG is the long-time innovation leader in the laundry category - from pioneering technologies such as TrueSteam(TM) in washers and dryers to new design palettes previously unavailable," said Reiner. "SmartDiagnosis technology is another example of LG's commitment to offering smart appliance innovations that deliver new levels of interactivity, convenience and reliability, ultimately offering consumers something better."
How It Works
With SmartDiagnosis, troubleshooting washer and dryer issues is made easier. Consumers calling the LG customer service center are instructed to press select buttons on the laundry unit, which in turn trigger a series of diagnostic tones. Each tone corresponds with a specific potential maintenance need and can be identified by trained service technicians over the phone, allowing them to evaluate the information and provide feedback based on the data that was received.
LG SmartDiagnosis eliminates a step in the troubleshooting process, because issues can at times be identified without the need for a service technician to visit the home for diagnosis, saving time and money. In those instances where a service visit is required, the field technician can come prepared with the correct parts, enabling the repair to be resolved in one visit.
Laundry Innovations
SmartDiagnosis is available on LG's newest front-load SteamWasher(TM) with 6Motion(TM) Technology (models WM3875 and WM3885) and the company's first top-load Wave(TM) Series washer (models WT5101 and WT5001), along with their matching dryers. Both washer series feature LG's Direct Drive motor which has fewer moving parts than conventional motors, helping to guarantee performance time and again. The Direct Drive motor enables innovations such as 6Motion technology that allows the drum to tailor each load with a combination of motions including rolling, stepping, swinging, scrubbing, filtration and tumbling. It also is the catalyst for advanced washing options like ColdWash(TM), an energy-efficient washing option available on both washers, which delivers warm water performance with cold water savings. ColdWash technology allows the deep clean of a warm water wash with less energy consumption, saving consumers up to 60-82 percent on their energy bill.
