Random House Children's Books Publishes Its First Enhanced E-Book With the Release of the Movie Tie-In to Wendelin Van Draanen's Beloved FLIPPED

NEW YORK, Aug. 10 -- Alfred A. Knopf Books for Young Readers, an imprint of Random House Children's Books, is pleased to announce the publication of its first enhanced e-book, a movie tie-in to Wendelin Van Draanen's highly acclaimed he-said, she-said teen romance FLIPPED, soon to be released nationwide as a major motion picture from Castle Rock Entertainment and Warner Bros. Pictures. On sale August 10th to time with the August 27th nationwide release of the film, the enhanced e-book retails for $14.99.
Directed by Rob Reiner, the film FLIPPED stars an ensemble cast featuring newcomers Madeline Carroll and Callan McAuliffe in the roles of the main characters Juli and Bryce, as well as Rebecca De Mornay, Anthony Edwards, John Mahoney, Penelope Ann Miller, Aidan Quinn and Kevin Weisman. The movie is sure to strike a chord with people of all ages as well as fans of the novel, which was published to critical acclaim in 2001.
The FLIPPED enhanced e-book movie tie-in will include an exclusive video feature about the making of the movie with behind-the-scenes footage and interviews from the director and cast as well as three original songs written and recorded by author Wendelin Van Draanen. It will also feature eight video clips of key scenes from the movie. With sixteen full-color photos from the film and four video interviews with the author, as well as a sneak peek of Van Draanen's latest romantic comedy Confessions of a Serial Kisser, the enhanced e-book edition has much to offer fans and will appeal to readers of all ages.
In addition to the enhanced e-book, Alfred A. Knopf Books for Young Readers will also publish a trade paperback version of the FLIPPED movie tie-in, as well as a regular e-book edition. The trade paperback will include an 8-page, full-color insert with movie stills, a Q&A with Van Draanen about the novel, and an excerpt from her recent young adult novel Confessions of a Serial Kisser. The movie tie-in retails for $8.99 and is 240 pages, and the e-book movie tie-in will retail for $8.99.
