SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 30 -- Avere Systems, the company setting new performance benchmarks with its Demand-Driven Storage(TM) solutions, today announced that its FXT 2700 appliance has achieved VMware Ready(TM) status. This designation indicates that the FXT 2700 has passed a detailed evaluation and testing process managed by VMware and is now listed on the VMware Hardware Compatibility List.
Passing the extensive VMware-specific testing helps ensure that the FXT 2700 makes best use of VMware technology and is ready for deployment in customer environments.
"We are pleased that the Avere FXT 2700 qualifies for the VMware Ready(TM) logo, signifying to customers that it has passed specific VMware testing and interoperability criteria and is ready to run their mission-critical business applications and operations," said Bernie Mills, senior director, alliance programs, VMware.
"Being named as VMware Ready(TM) lets the world know that we provide a solution that performs well within VMware environments. Companies turn to VMware to address their growing data infrastructures by minimizing server sprawl and underutilized machines. In replacing servers with virtual machines, people ultimately need a flexible storage network that can perform effectively," said Ron Bianchini, co-founder and CEO of Avere Systems. "By using the FXT 2700 within VMware environments enterprises can easily supercharge performance by adding a cost-effective, scalable SSD layer to an existing virtual NAS infrastructure."
The VMware Ready program is a VMware co-branding program for qualified partner products and is a benefit of the VMware Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) program. With more than 1,200 members worldwide, the VMware TAP program works with best-of-breed technology partners to provide them a comprehensive set of VMware technical and marketing services, support, tools and expertise to deliver enhanced value to joint customers.
Avere provides Demand-Driven Storage solutions that dynamically organize data in response to business demand. The Avere FXT Series enables faster application performance at dramatically lower cost by intelligently moving active data between traditional storage devices and FXT appliances. In benchmark SPECsfs2008 testing the FXT Series was shown to provide the highest performance and most efficient scaling with lowest cost vs. other disk-based solutions. Installed at leading entertainment, life science and energy companies, to name a few, the FXT Series, which can be clustered for maximum scalability, tiers data on SSD and HDD media and enables a 5:1 reduction in disks, power, and rack space.
