Verizon Wireless Announces Developer Community Conference to Focus on Mobile Applications and More
Event to Take Place in Las Vegas, Sept. 21-22, With Developers, Network and Technology Experts Talking Apps for Current and Future Networks
BASKING RIDGE, N.J., Aug. 30 -- Verizon Wireless is hosting its second annual Verizon Developer Community (VDC) Conference on Sept. 21 and 22 at the ARIA Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. The conference is focused on fostering new mobile applications for existing and future wireless networks, and developers can register by visiting http://www.vdcconference.com.
"Our VDC Conference brings developers, network and technology experts, and OEMs together to talk about what's going on in the app space now and to brainstorm and plan for what's next. It's an especially exciting time with the imminent launch of our 4G LTE network and the proliferation of apps for consumers and businesses," said John Stratton, chief marketing officer of Verizon Wireless.
Path Continues for Applications Development and V CAST Apps
This year's VDC Conference will provide mobile applications developers and others with an update of Verizon Wireless' strategy around applications and the developer portal as well as a host of in-depth sessions on topics ranging from APIs and other network enablers to opportunities for developers in vertical markets. Special sessions devoted to open development, connected devices, and the opportunities tied to the forthcoming 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network will also be offered, and Verizon Wireless leaders and other partners will talk about marketing, merchandising and technical resources available to members of the VDC.
Since the inaugural VDC Conference, more than 5,000 developers have joined the VDC to create applications to be distributed to Verizon Wireless' customers on the nation's most reliable wireless network. Verizon Wireless launched its V CAST Apps storefront earlier this year on the RIM platform. The store currently features more than 1,000 apps, including those created by Condé Nast Traveler (Conde Nast Traveler Etiquette 101), Kayak (Kayak Flight and Hotel Search), Electronic Arts (Madden NFL 11), Slacker (Slacker Radio), and MobiTV (MobiTV - Live TV).
