WidePoint Subsidiary Protexx and Teleco Systems Successfully Demonstrate Authentication and Encryption Solution at 911 Emergency Center
Solution Addresses Requirements of FBI Security Policy Update and Reveals New Emerging Market Opportunity
WASHINGTON, Sept. 7 -- WidePoint Corporation (NYSE Amex: WYY), a specialist in wireless mobility management and cybersecurity solutions, today announced that its Protexx subsidiary, along with Protexx Channel Partner Teleco Systems, Inc., have successfully demonstrated an advanced authentication and encryption solution that addresses the proposed requirements of the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy draft update from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The solution was demonstrated to Rock County, Wisconsin officials at their 911 Center.
The FBI's CJIS Security Policy describes a minimum set of security requirements designed to protect the full lifecycle of Criminal Justice Information, whether at rest or in transit. The CJIS draft policy update, presently scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2011, defines requirements for "Advanced Authentication and Encryption" deployed by authorized users accessing CJIS data from remote locations. This policy applies to every individual contractor, private entity, non-criminal justice agency representative, or member of a criminal justice entity that operates in support of, or needs access to Criminal Justice Information (CJI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
CJIS Security Policy potentially effects up to 3,009 counties, 64 parishes, 16 boroughs, 41 independent municipalities or cities in the United States that need to address and meet the requirements of the CJIS Security Policy and the new draft update.
Peter Letizia, President of Protexx stated, "We believe our industry leading performance and the competitive pricing of this system will enable us to offer a winning solution in addressing the needs of this large community of criminal justice participants."
Henry Hile, CEO of Teleco Systems added, "The Protexx Solution supports the CJIS Draft Policy Update requirements for a secure framework across the broad spectrum of the criminal justice and noncriminal justice communities. We believe its high performance, scalability and ease of deployment are unmatched at this price point, particularly in an environment that is dominated by less capable virtual private network solutions."
