Windows 7 is celebrating its first year, and Microsoft has something to really celebrate. In a Windows blog by Brandon LeBlanc it is reported that Microsoft has sold more than 240 million copies of the Windows 7 operating system.

Here is what Brandon had to say in the first part of this blog:

Quote

Today’s an exciting day! We are announcing that more than 240 million licenses of Windows 7 have been sold. Windows 7 is the fastest selling operating system in history. As of September, Windows 7 was running on 93% of new consumer PCs and has over 17% global OS market share (according to Net Applications as of October 1st). There is an amazing array of great PCs out on the market today. Six months after launch, 100% (over 18,000) of our OEM partners were selling Windows 7 PCs versus 70% for Windows Vista PCs at a comparable time period. And there is an incredible ecosystem of products – software and hardware – that work great with Windows 7 too. You can check out and discover many of those products at Windows Product Scout which was announced yesterday.

Windows 7 is the best Windows since 2000, IMO. I've never used Windows since XP, but that's what I get from the discussions.

Windows 7 is a very good OS. It's a big improvement over XP and is what Vista should have been from the start. I know a few people who are pretty computer "illiterate" and have a pretty easy time using 7

Hey Broken,

I agree, even the computer "illiterate" as you mentioned, can use Windows 7 with ease. Of course they will not be able to understand more than the basics, but none the less they are able to use it easily. You mentioned that Windows 7 is what "Vista" should have been, and that is pretty much correct. The one thing that I seen from being in the Microsoft tests is that Vista was merely a go between for Windows XP and Windows 7! Microsoft wanted to make money, so they released Vista which was somewhat part of the development of Windows 7. Does all of this sound familiar? If not is should, as Microsoft did pretty much the exact thing with Windows ME! ME was part of the development of Windows XP. So to sum it up, I think that Windows Vista was the Windows ME of today LOL.

*wonders why (if that is the case) after he chose to dual-boot does he spend more time in Ubuntu than in Windows*

Me wasn't anything related to XP. 2000 was the precursor to XP. 2000 was a good OS. XP was 2000+extra crap.
