CHICAGO, Oct. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The day after U.S. Cellular launched the Samsung Mesmerize(TM) from Samsung's line of Galaxy S smartphones, the carrier is announcing that its first mobile tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Tab(TM), will be available to customers in time for the holiday shopping season.
The cutting-edge device runs on the Android platform and is the perfect gift for consumers craving an immersive multimedia, messaging and music experience. The Galaxy Tab's vibrant 7-inch touchscreen expands the interactive space to play games, watch movies, read books and browse the Web with stunning clarity and control, but is still small enough to hold in one hand. U.S. Cellular's version of the Galaxy Tab is backed by its nationwide 3G network and all the valuable benefits of The Belief Project, which is a series of industry-first initiatives developed to elevate the wireless experience and fix the frustrations wireless customers have with their carriers, one project at a time.

The Galaxy Tab has a vibrant 7-inch WSVGA TFT touchscreen and is powered by a 1GHz Hummingbird Application processor. The device operates on the Android 2.2(TM) platform, with full support for Adobe® Flash® Player 10.1 and access to the more than 100,000 applications available on the Android Market(TM). It features two cameras, a 3 megapixel camera on the back with autofocus and zoom, and a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera for video chat. The AllShare application allows customers to send video, audio and pictures from their Galaxy Tab to other DLNA-enabled devices, like TVs and computers.
Avid readers can download the Kindle application from the Android Market to take their favorite book titles everywhere they go.
