Sears Opens Its Doors on Thanksgiving Day
For the first time, Sears will join Kmart by welcoming customers to shop on Thanksgiving Day
HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill., Nov. 18, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Sears will open its doors on Thanksgiving Day to provide families with an extra day to shop and take advantage of exceptional deals before the busy holiday shopping season begins. This will be the first year Sears(i) will be open, whereas Kmart will continue its 19-year tradition and will be open on Thanksgiving.
"Our decision to stay open on Thanksgiving Day was based on our customers' response and desire to have an extra day to shop," said David Friedman, SVP, Sears Holdings and president of marketing, Sears Holdings. "We are always listening to our customers to make their shopping experience easier, and now, by being open on Thanksgiving, they can start their shopping early or pick up last minute items needed for their Thanksgiving celebration."

On Thanksgiving Day, Sears will be open from 7 a.m. to noon (local time) and Kmart will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. (local time) in most markets.
