National Health and Fitness Magazine Declares 'Being Healthy Is a Revolutionary Act'

Experience Life Introduces 10-Point Manifesto for Thriving and Launches RevolutionaryAct.com

ST. PAUL, Minn., Dec. 15, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- No six-pack-abs sensationalism. No bikini-body obsessions. These are just two of many differentiating factors that make Experience Life magazine unique on the health and fitness newsstand. This national, independent magazine rejects conventions and hype in favor of a deeper, more forward-thinking approach to healthy life change.

Experience Life's January "Change Your Life" issue is just about to hit newsstands, featuring a bold new tagline -- "Being Healthy Is a Revolutionary Act."  The issue, which features yoga pioneer Shiva Rea on the cover, also includes a free, 16-page tear-out booklet: "A Manifesto for Thriving In a Mixed Up World," that invites readers to sign up and become part of an emerging healthy-way-of-life movement at http://www.revolutionaryact.com.

Just in time for the holiday season and the New Year's resolution frenzy, this is a totally fresh, sane take on healthy living that reads both as a rallying cry and practical guide to a better, more rewarding way of life.

Established in 2001, Experience Life magazine has a long history of scooping many national health and fitness magazines with articles on diverse topics like local food, inflammation-based disease, functional medicine and positive psychology. And it has earned high compliments from respected health experts like Dr. Mehmet Oz, who says, "Experience Life magazine offers practical insights into the major health challenges that all Americans face. The writing is compelling and the message has impact. Reading this magazine is time well spent."

Pilar Gerasimo has served as the magazine's editor in chief since its debut. She says the concept for the magazine was originally sparked by her realization that most conventional health and fitness magazines weren't helping people make the kinds of life changes their headlines promised. She realized she couldn't be the only one who longed for a more substantial, more inspiring resource.

"I figured there had to be a lot of busy, health-motivated people out there who had had enough of the whole six-pack abs thing and really wanted a smarter, more practical brand of wisdom that would help them achieve the diverse range of healthy-living goals that mattered to them," Gerasimo says.

The magazine's ultimate goal, she says, is to change and elevate the way people think about healthy-way-of-life change. "Choosing to be a healthy, happy person today is not a small, selfish or insignificant thing," says Gerasimo. "On the contrary, it's a really big deal. It involves bucking unhealthy norms and trends, and overcoming some serious obstacles. Experience Life equips its readers to rise to that challenge rather than getting overwhelmed by it. And that's important, because by choosing to be healthy, you help to make the world a better place. You change not just your own life, but the lives of everyone around you."

Experience Life is winning lots of new fans with its smart, no-nonsense brand of health and fitness reporting. While Experience Life has developed a circulation of 630,000, and an estimated reach of about 2.8 million women and men, it has also earned a coveted place on the newsstands at Whole Foods and Barnes & Noble. The magazinehas garnered dozens of editorial and design awards, including the Minnesota Magazine and Publication Association's Gold Award for General Excellence and three Ozzie awards from Folio magazine.

In addition to its print magazine, Experience Life offers a robust Web site, videos, podcasts, an iPad-friendly digital edition and free e-newsletters. Experience Life is published 10 times a year by Life Time Fitness (NYSE: LTM), the Healthy Way of Life Company and operator of 90 premier health and fitness clubs located throughout the U.S. For more, including archived content from the magazine, visit http://www.experiencelifemag.com and join the magazine's healthy revolution at http://www.revolutionaryact.com.
