Monsoon Multimedia Launches Vulkano Blast
Monsoon's Universal Video Entertainment Box with DVR, Web TV, TV Anywhere and Mobile DVR at $199
SAN MATEO, Calif., Jan. 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Monsoon Multimedia, a leading provider of video convergence products, today launched the Vulkano Blast, which is very easy to set up and integrates DVR, web video, TV Anywhere, Universal Plug and Play streaming (UPnP), Mobile Video Recording and 160 GB internal storage for just $199.99.
The Vulkano Blast is the most versatile and powerful TV video platform today. It gives consumers the freedom to watch TV and web video content from anywhere in the world, as well as view personal content on the TV from smartphones, tablets, computers or video cameras. The Vulkano Blast can replace multiple boxes such as TiVo, Slingbox and Roku, while providing a complete video, photo and music experience across smartphones and tablets (iPhone, iPad, Android, BlackBerry), PCs, Macs, televisions and soon on Windows 7 and Symbian phones.

After moving through the simplified set up process, users can watch and control all TV channels through a wired Ethernet, Wi-Fi or 3G connection by installing a Vulkano Blast and downloading the appropriate software application onto the supported devices from http://www.myvulkano.com or from the respective app stores. Then schedule a recording through the Vulkano Blast EPG (electronic program guide) to transfer, watch and control the recordings at any time from the device.
The Vulkano Blast lets users watch YouTube on the TV and by leveraging UPnP they can stream video and photos from their smartphones, computers, NAS drives and cameras wirelessly on to their living room TV. In the near future, Vulkano will offer free service upgrades such as Amazon, Yahoo! Widgets, Netflix and others.
Today Monsoon Multimedia also announced the Vulkano Flow, a smartphone accessory that enables television content to be viewed anywhere on BlackBerry and Android smartphones and tablets, iPhones, iPads, Macs, PCs and soon Windows 7 and Symbian devices, available for just $99. Both devices come pre-loaded with PC and Mac players, while iPad, iPhone, BlackBerry, Android, tablet and additional smartphone applications can be purchased at the low price of $9.99 each in the respective app stores.
