Multicore Association Announces Six New Corporate and Two University Members

Membership Growth Demonstrates Strategic Value of Evolving Multicore Standards

EL DORADO HILLS, Calif., Feb. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Multicore Association, a non-profit organization focused on developing standards that get products using multicore processor implementations to market quicker, today announced that NetLogic Microsystems (Nasdaq: NETL), Netronome Systems, OneAccess, RadiSys, Sage Electronic Engineering, and UltraSoC Technologies are its newest Corporate-level working-group members, and Technikum Wien and University of Tsukuba are its newest University-level members.

"Adding these six companies and two universities brings our total membership to 33 corporate and 7 university members, clearly demonstrating the critical need for standards in support of multicore development," said Markus Levy, president of the Multicore Association. "The diversity of these new members reflects the breadth and scope of the multicore ecosystem and will do much to strengthen the Association's efforts for developing standards and best practices that facilitate multicore processor implementations."

Multicore represents a significant trend in processor technology and is being adopted by the majority of system developers seeking higher performance capabilities and lower power consumption. The Multicore Association is working to enable the widespread adoption of multicore processor implementations by setting standards and guidelines for how systems will be utilized and programmed.

NetLogic Microsystems is a worldwide leader in intelligent semiconductor solutions that are powering next-generation Internet networks.  NetLogic Microsystems' XLP(TM) multicore processor family features the industry's first and only quad-issue, quad-threaded and superscalar out-of-order embedded processor architecture with scalability to 128 nxCPUs(TM) operating at 2.0GHz.  Manufactured in the 40nm process, the XLP processor is NetLogic Microsystems' third-generation multicore processor family and is capable of delivering over 160Gbps throughput and 240 million packets per second (Mpps) of intelligent application processing performance.

Netronome Systems is a leading supplier of highly programmable semiconductor products used for intelligent flow processing in network and communications devices. Netronome's solutions include tightly integrated network flow processors and acceleration cards that scale to more than 40 Gbps. They are used in carrier-grade and enterprise-class communications products, as well as virtualized servers and appliances that require deep packet inspection, flow analysis and content processing, all at very high speeds for millions of simultaneous flows.

OneAccess is a leading manufacturer of multi-service routers and carrier Ethernet access devices enabling major telecoms service providers to deliver business-grade managed services profitably. OneAccess supplies routers to over 100 service providers including 4 of the top 5 the largest telecoms operators in Europe.

RadiSys is a leading provider of innovative hardware and software platforms for next generation IP-based networks. RadiSys products enable customers to bring more new high-value applications and services to market faster with a lower investment. The products are used in a wide variety of applications including 3G/4G/LTE wireless voice, data and video, Femtocell, VoIP and Video over IP communications and conferencing, Voice Quality Enhancement (VQE), and secure defense communications.

Sage Electronic Engineering is an elite supplier of debug tools, software solutions and custom engineering services for AMD x86 processors and chipsets. Sage produces SmartProbe, the only commercially available JTAG ICE for AMD, and the Sage EDK development environment, to empower software and systems developers.  Sage offers an assortment of software building blocks and a comprehensive range of engineering services to innovators, with express purpose of helping them "develop faster and create more."

UltraSoC Technologies is an independent provider of System-on-Chip (SoC) infrastructures that enable rapid development of embedded systems based on advanced SoCs. It is developing UltraDebugTM, a flexible and generically compatible SoC debug support platform, which will provide superior application-level debugging to combine multiple processor and peripheral cores from different providers in a highly compact implementation.

The Multicore Association provides three levels of membership, with Executive Board, Working Group, and University members. The Executive board sets the overall direction of the organization. Working group members are eligible to work on any of the working groups. University members may participate in any of the Multicore Association's ongoing development work, for which current projects include multicore virtual machine interface standardization, multicore resource management and communication APIs, and multicore programming practices.

About The Multicore Association
