U.S. Government Data for Airline Performance, Bank Performance, and Hospital Quality Can Be Easily Visualized on Mobile Devices
VIENNA, Va., March 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- MicroStrategy® Incorporated (Nasdaq: MSTR), a leading worldwide provider of business intelligence (BI) software, today announced that it has released three new public interest apps that are available for free by downloading the MicroStrategy Mobile for iPad® and iPhone® Apps on the iTunes App Store. The apps are built with MicroStrategy's easy-to-use Mobile App platform, and they feature airline flight performance data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, bank performance data from the FDIC, and hospital quality data from the Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
MicroStrategy Mobile leverages the user-friendly features of the iPad and iPhone to provide intuitive insights into large amounts of data. The MicroStrategy Mobile App on the App Store enables people to explore very large data sets and view the information in a highly visual and interactive manner. The three new apps are:
Airline Performance App - Based on data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the Airline Performance App allows users to analyze more than 11 million flights, covering 303 airports, and 19 different airline carriers. The Airline Performance data lets users see air traffic to and from any origin city in the U.S. airspace, monitor on-time performance of airports by day of week and time of day, assess airline carriers by flight route and travel time, and understand the best days and times to fly.
Bank Performance App - The Bank Performance App enables consumers to analyze and review the performance of over 7,000 FDIC-insured financial institutions from the first quarter of 2007 through the fourth quarter of 2010. With this app, users can analyze the top 100 banks in the country and rank them by 10 different key financial metrics; explore bank performance to see trends and find causes, including the ability to view full income statements and balance sheets for any chosen U.S. bank; and review top and bottom ranked banks using the leaders and laggards analytical model.
Hospital Quality App - The Hospital Quality App enables consumers to find the best U.S. hospitals using three different sets of analysis and a combination of map visualizations, reports, graphs, and dashboards. Users can locate the closest hospitals and compare quality rankings along several measures, analyze state hospital rankings, and compare the top 300 national hospitals across key metrics. The data is from the Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
