NDC Academy 2011 Transforms Capitol Hill Reception into First Ever Tweet-Up in Historic Kennedy Caucus Room
National Development Council taps its Twitter following of economic and community development leaders, officials and members of Congress put a spotlight on the nation's top community development projects
WASHINGTON, May 9, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- NDC Academy 2011 today announced its re-envisioned program for the May 23-25th Conference's signature networking event, the Capitol Hill Reception. In the past, the reception served as a networking event for the economic and community development conference-goers to meet and mingle with policy leaders, officials and members of Congress. With a focus on building a more interactive and engaging event, the new Capitol Hill Reception and Tweet-Up aims to highlight the growing importance of social networking to economic and community development practitioners across the country and provide dedicated networking opportunities.
"The NDC Academy is responsive to changes and challenges impacting community development as well as to what our community partners tell us they will find most valuable and useful. Providing productive learning and networking opportunities that come from face-to-face interactions are a vital part of the conference," said Kevin Urquhart, director of training for the National Development Council (NDC) and Academy director. "The Capitol Reception and Tweet-Up demonstrates our commitment to grow and nurture relationships at Academy and through social media. Under the theme, "Navigating Changing Times," NDC Academy 2011 will feature 20 sessions focused on the latest financing tools and development strategies for every type of community development project. Topics include: Going Green for Community Development; the Small Business Jobs Act; Affordable Housing; Foundations and Community Development; Public-Private Partnerships; New Market Tax Credits; and more.
