Verizon Wireless Enhances 3G Network in Anacostia by Activating New Cell Site
LAUREL, Md., May 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --Verizon Wireless recently activated a new cell site in the Anacostia neighborhood in Southwest Washington, DC. The new site, which expands wireless voice and 3G data coverage along the Suitland Parkway, is part of the company's continuing effort to stay ahead of increasing demand for reliable voice and mobile Internet access.
Expanded 3G capacity in Southwest Washington, DC lets more customers using tablets, laptops or smartphones instantly download the latest apps, music, videos or 3D games; rapidly browse the Web to keep up with news, sports, stock quotes; send and receive emails in real-time as well as open and download attachments; enjoy turn-by-turn navigation; and more.
The increased coverage is part of the company's aggressive multi-billion dollar network investment each year to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless' voice and data services. Last year alone, the company spent $347 million on regional network improvements, bringing total network investment in the region since 2000 to more than $2.6 billion.
