Alaska Airlines Inflight Wi-Fi Available on Most Every Aircraft

Airline offering complimentary access to Facebook on flights throughout June

Passengers can enter instant win online game for trips to Hawaii

SEATTLE, June 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Alaska Airlines announced today that Gogo® Inflight Internet service is now available on nearly all aircraft in its fleet. With the installation of the service scheduled for completion later this month, Alaska's fleet will be 92 percent Wi-Fi equipped, which includes its 737-800 and -900 aircraft flying predominantly longer routes. Only seven of the airline's 117 Boeing 737s will not offer Wi-Fi, including its freighter and combi (part-passenger/part-freight) aircraft and three 737-400s.

"We're pleased to be able to offer inflight Wi-Fi service to our customers flying throughout our U.S. mainland and Alaska route network," said Joe Sprague, the airline's vice president of marketing. "For our business travelers, especially, the ability to access e-mail and the Internet is a great benefit."

Customers traveling on Wi-Fi-equipped planes can enjoy complimentary access to Facebook throughout the month of June. Alaska Airlines has launched a Facebook app whereby fans can play an instant win game for the chance to win free trips-for-two to Hawaii every Wednesday. The online game, called Alaska Airlines® "Nuts for Hawaii(TM)," started May 12 and continues every Wednesday through July 20, 2011. For more information including the official rules, visit http://www.facebook.com/alaskaairlines.

Using Gogo, Alaska Airlines passengers with Wi-Fi-enabled devices can browse the Web; access online music, games, podcasts and webcasts; send and receive e-mail; and connect to virtual private networks while flying. The easy-to-use service provides passengers with full Internet access on any Wi-Fi-equipped laptop or personal electronic device at speeds similar to wireless mobile broadband services on the ground. Gogo is available for $4.95 and up, based on length of flight and device used. Gogo also offers 24-hour inflight Wi-Fi passes and monthly subscriptions. Customers can visit http://www.alaskaair.com/wifi for more information about Alaska Airlines' inflight Wi-Fi.

Aircraft equipped with inflight Internet service have a Wi-Fi symbol located outside the aircraft's boarding door and information in seatback pockets. Gogo is available above 10,000 feet, following an announcement approving the use of portable electronic devices.
