AT&T Helps Texas School Board Members Track Continuing Education Credits at Annual Conference

AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 30, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- A service from AT&T* is about to get a test drive as a group of Texas school board members will pilot a different way of submitting training credit information at the Texas Association of School Boards' annual conference kick-off today. More than 50 board members will pilot a cloud-based enterprise messaging platform to submit course credits of continuing education sessions attended via text from their mobile devices. Conference organizers hope that using the AT&T Global Smart Messaging Suite will improve the speed and efficiency of continuing education reporting.

"Keeping track of continuing education credit numbers can be a chore and TASB is exploring this option to simplify the task for our members," said Bill Nemir, TASB Leadership Team Services director. "This is one innovative effort among many we will be exploring to streamline credit recording and improve the integrity of the process."

"We are appreciative of AT&T's role in supporting this pilot," said Karen Strong, TASB associate executive director of communications and public relations. "They worked quickly and collaboratively with us to pull together the pilot in time for our annual convention, allowing us to take advantage of the largest training event of the year. This is an ideal opportunity for us to gather information on how the technology might help us."
