Noveda Technologies and ARAMARK Team Up to Increase Energy Awareness on Higher Education Campuses
Companies partner to develop and implement energy and water management solutions that drive sustainable change
BRANCHBURG, N.J., Oct. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Noveda Technologies, the leader in web-based, real-time energy and water management systems, and ARAMARK, a world leader in providing professional facilities management services, today announced a strategic partnership to develop solutions for managing energy and water consumption in real-time. This partnership is designed to deliver programs that drive and sustain behavioral change to reduce waste and optimize consumption of electricity, natural gas and water in Higher Education facilities managed by ARAMARK across North America.
"We are honored and very excited to partner with ARAMARK as they seek innovative solutions to drive energy and water conservation by utilizing real-time monitoring and community participation," said Govi Rao, president and CEO of Noveda Technologies. "ARAMARK's longstanding presence in facilities management provides them with a thorough understanding of energy and water consumption, and we look forward to collaborating with them to help reach their customers' conservation and sustainability goals."
As part of the partnership, Noveda will provide ARAMARK's clients with data acquisition hardware and software solutions, along with an operations portal that will allow facility managers to view and monitor energy and water usage at multiple campus buildings from one system. In addition to enabling energy and water monitoring, Noveda will provide interactive and real-time educational dashboards and kiosk displays to track energy and water use, as well as to encourage energy saving competitions on the campuses ARAMARK serves.
According to the EPA, educational institutions in the US spend nearly $14 billion annually on energy. Additionally, colleges and universities can reduce energy bills by 30 percent or more and sustain savings by employing a variety of measures. One such measure, highlighted in a recent ARAMARK survey of higher education students, is education and engagement programs that involve the campus community in consumption reduction and behavior change. ARAMARK has successfully implemented several campus education and awareness programs that engaged students in reducing waste and consumption of resources.
"ARAMARK is committed to bringing innovative solutions to our partner clients that help them conserve resources and meet their sustainability goals," said Ron Mesaros, vice president of Facility Services for ARAMARK Higher Education. "This strategic alliance with Noveda will enable our facility managers to monitor and track energy consumption on our partner campuses in real-time, as well as engage and educate the entire campus community in environmental stewardship."
