Bay Area Rapper J Peezy Looks to Become the 'Steve Jobs of Hip Hop'
Former San Jose State football star and Rapper separates himself by starting a company and creating real technology
SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Many people are familiar with the typical story of a rap star's rise to fame, which usually includes dealing drugs, being shot or going to prison. However, one successful rapper and entrepreneur, J Peezy, is breaking that mold.
Jerald Perry better known as the rapper J Peezy is no stranger to making history. While playing football at San Jose State he was the first "true" freshman to ever start on the defensive line. Now as a rapper, he is the first to truly mesh hip hop and high tech with his latest venture, Jump Shot Media, LLC.
"I have a tremendous appreciation for good music regardless of genre, especially hip hop," J Peezy says. "This is paired with a strong desire to learn new technology, so it was only a matter of time before the two worlds collided and formed something like Jump Shot Media."
If the saying "never judge a book by its cover" has ever truly applied to anyone, it's J Peezy. Not just a talented rapper, he is the founder of Jump Shot Media, a company that has developed a technology that can actually score how well a person raps. A part of this technology is featured in Jump Shot Media's flagship mobile game Battle Rap Stars(TM) that was recently released for iPhone and set to be released for Android before the end of the year.
"You see some cool battle rap apps out there created for rappers to battle each other by posting music online somewhere via email or a bulletin, but what we have brought to market is the first ever rap 'game' created for all people, and not just rappers," J Peezy says. "Battle Rap Stars is like the game 'Mike Tyson's Punch Out', but instead of tapping a button at the right moment to hit your opponent, the rhythmic delivery of your words are used to knockout real heavyweight rappers featured in the game."
J Peezy is an independent rap artist and COO of Jump Shot Media, LLC. He has been making music for the last 10 years and has recorded and performed with legendary producers and artists Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, Tony Lindsay, Ne-Yo, Ice Cube, Too Short, Baby Bash and more. His second studio album, "It's My Time," will be independently released next month.
About Jump Shot Media: Jump Shot Media is a Silicon Valley-based social and mobile game developer specializing in rap and hip-hop focused games and applications. Battle Rap Stars(TM) is now available in the iPhone App Store. For more information, visit http://battlerapstars.com.
