AppTech Joins Forces With Xplaneta
BOCA RATON, Fla., Nov. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- AppTech Corp, (US OTC: APCX) a leading publicly-held, live mobile video apps distributor and Xplaneta, a key player in the distribution of premium mobile content in Brazil and Latin America, announced today that they have begun operating as one entity.
Xplaneta was founded in 2003 by Mr. Karl Loriega, a seasoned entertainment content industry executive turned entrepreneur who boasts extensive app-related business experience throughout the Americas. As the founder and managing director of Xplaneta, Mr. Loriega pioneered and launched multi-million dollar projects in over 20 countries in the region bringing together mobile operators, handset manufacturers and premiere Hollywood studios such as 20th Century Fox, Paramount Pictures, Walt Disney Pictures, and others. Anticipating the boom of the sport of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) in Brazil, Mr. Loriega secured the mobile distribution rights for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and was instrumental in spreading awareness of the sport and generating new revenue streams via mobile channels, in preparation for the extremely successful UFC Rio event.
Most recently, Mr. Loriega partnered with Phunware, a major mobile apps infrastructure provider, to develop strategic opportunities in the region and to distribute content from subsidiary, GoTV Networks, the largest mobile media network in the industry with programs such as Hip Hop Official, True Country, Revolver TV and The Karaoke Channel. By joining forces with Xplaneta, AppTech dramatically increases its content alliances, reinforces its content acquisitions capabilities, and gains unique expertise in mobile marketing and promotions. Together with its core technologies and development expertise, AppTech will leverage these new capabilities to produce new revenue generating mobile apps and content experiences.
Mr. Loriega graduated with honors from Yale University and possesses an MBA from The University of Pennsylvania's prestigious Wharton School of Business. Concurrent with the announcement regarding Xplaneta, AppTech Corp is pleased to announce that Mr. Loriega has been appointed AppTech's Chief Operating Officer and will work closely with CEO Elias Rocha to develop the company's executive team and corporate structure throughout Latin America and the United States.
"Karl brings long-standing prosperous relationships with the world's premier content providers," stated Elias Rocha, CEO, AppTech Corp. "The fusion of premium content with AppTech's state-of-the-art live mobile video technology will result in some very cool apps to be widely consumed by the diverse demographics throughout Latin America."
Mr. Loriega added: "We want to play a central role in realizing the massive potential for mobile video consumption in Brazil and Latin America in the forthcoming years. We will do that by building relevant, user friendly apps with compelling content and continue to work very closely with content providers, mobile operators, infrastructure providers, advertisers, and sponsors to be at the cutting edge of delivering the best possible experience to end users."
