Intel developed a method for detecting an overclocked processor, and then can reduce the clock rate on the processor. It isn't clear whether or not Intel actually plans to use this in the future, but nonetheless they now own the patent. While a larger portion of the overclockin community overclocks AMD processsors, it's still not great news for anyone wishing to overclocka Intel chip in the future. Hopefully AMD won't follow in Intel's path.
