Redefining Satellite Broadband: 12 Mbps for $50
Demos Provided January 10-13 at Booth CP14 Located in Outdoor Exhibition
Showcasing the new high-speed ViaSat broadband service
that will be launching in January 2012 at the
International Consumer Electronics Show (CES). With a
baseline offer of up to 12 Mbps for $50 per month,
satellite broadband can now compete more effectively
WHAT: against other home broadband alternatives.
Featuring demonstrations in three different scenarios:
residential, commercial airline, and satellite
newsgathering:
The residential demo will feature typical, everyday
consumer applicationsA commercial airline broadband
showcase offering iPads and airline seats to
demonstrate what is possible with new Ka-band airborne
services Innovative newsgathering experience for field
reporters, demonstrating how live, high-definition
video can be sent and received using a portable
satellite terminal that's designed for easy transport
and setup by a single person
The new services rolling out January 16 will be enabled
by ViaSat's all-new satellite system architecture,
featuring ViaSat-1, the world's highest capacity
satellite, and an innovative ground system with
embedded Internet acceleration technology.
There are roughly 15 million U.S. households that lack
access to high-speed broadband. Satellite can now meet
that need, offering rural residents true high-speed
Internet and millions of suburban dwellers a better
WHY: alternative to their existing options.
ViaSat and JetBlue are working together to create the
industry's best in-flight broadband for commercial
aviation, with a scheduled service launch by the end of
2012.
ViaSat's new broadband service will also transform the
newsgathering experience for broadcast reporters,
dramatically reducing the cost and increasing
portability for high definition video contribution from
the field without the need for a satellite truck.
