ARRIS C4® CMTS and Touchstone® TG862S Assure European Cable Operators of IPv6 Interoperability and Capabilities in Recent Excentis Interop Event

SUWANEE, Ga., Jan. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- ARRIS Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: ARRS) today announced thatits C4 CMTS, supporting EuroDOCSIS(TM) 3.0 features, and its Touchstone TG862S Wideband cable modems, using generally available software, have successfully demonstrated interoperability for IPv6 services over a weeklong period in the test labs of Excentis in Ghent, Belgium.

"This announcement represents a validation of the comprehensive  IPv6-related research and development efforts conducted by ARRIS, a leader in EuroDOCSIS 3.0 technology," said Todd Kessler, ARRIS VP, CMTS Product Management.  "Over the past years we've worked very closely with our European customers to plan IPv6 feature support for both our C4 CMTS and our Touchstone CPE portfolio."

"We're very pleased to have been part of such a successful interoperability demonstration at Cable Europe Labs," said Derek Elder, ARRIS SVP & GM, Touchstone DOCSIS® CPE Business Unit.  "European cable operators can rest assured that our data modems and E-MTA voice and data devices will support the full range of IPv6 migration stages."

"The Cable industry has been preparing for the important and necessary transition from IPv4 to IPv6 for some time now and, due to our members' rapid growth, Cable Europe Labs has increased our focus on validating technical solution and transition strategies," said Peter Percosan, Managing Director of Cable Europe Labs.  "The recent interoperability event hosted by Excentis, successfully demonstrated the great strides made by key vendor partners.  It is a major industry milestone."

The ARRIS CMTS and CPE products have shown IPv6 interoperability in the areas of ED2.0+IPv6, ED3.0 and eRouter.  Additionally, several IPv6 migration techniques, like Dual-Stack Lite, NAT64/DNS64 and NAT444, were also successfully demonstrated.

Since 1981, IPv4 has been the publicly used Internet Protocol and is currently the foundation for most Internet communications. The exponential growth of the Internet and the traffic it enables has created a need for more addresses, and IPv6 fills that need.
