**1. ZAPPOS CYBERSECURITY BREACH. Fred Cate, C. Ben Dutton Professor of Law and director of the Center for Applied Cybersecurity at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law, is one of the world's leading authorities on information law, privacy and security; and regularly advises Congress, government agencies and industry groups on these matters. He is available to discuss the legal and personal security implications of the recent Zappos breach: "The data reportedly accessed in the Zappos breach -- customer names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses and encrypted passwords, in addition to the last four digits of customer credit cards -- poses the greatest risk to affected individuals. If I have your name, address and phone number, in many states I can get your property tax records, marriage license and other publicly available information. With that additional information, a criminal is in an even better position to commit frauds in your name or to access password-protected sites by using the extra information to answer password-reset questions." News Contact: Brianne O'Donnell, brianne.donnell@gabbe.com Phone: +1-212-220-4444
**2. FOOD: OUT-OF-THE-CHOCOLATE-BOX IDEAS FOR VALENTINE'S DAY: MACARONS. Matthieu Chamussy is a Certified Executive Pastry Chef (CEPC) and chef instructor in the baking and pastry program at The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of California -- Inland Empire: "Macarons are a very of-the-moment sweet treat. Try serving or making pink, heart-shaped macarons encircled with raspberries for this Valentine's Day. When plating your French confections, decorate with a fresh rose petal and a fresh raspberry, and serve with a quality vanilla ice cream and raspberry sauce. Another great way to make this dessert even more special is to serve it with a glass of champagne, prosecco or cava." News Contact: Amy Rocha, arocha@aii.edu Phone: +1-310-314-6174
**3. HEALTH: PREPPING YOUR KNEES FOR AN INJURY-FREE SKI SEASON. Dr. Joel Buchalter with Somers Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine Group: "Whether you're a first-timer or an expert, if you ski, you're going to fall. And while the majority of spills are forgettable, a hard landing can leave you laid up for months or even longer. If the knees are involved, a seemingly minor fall can do serious damage. Because of the complexity of the knee joint and the tremendous forces involved in a fall, we encourage our skiing patients to prepare their knees for an injury-free ski season. The best way to protect your knees is to do your homework before you hit the lifts: Make sure you've got the right equipment and that it's in good shape, with your skis tuned and sharpened and your bindings adjusted properly. Know what you're doing and don't push your limits too far. Get your body in shape well before the snow falls. Make certain before you hit the slopes to stretch your hamstrings, hip flexors and quadriceps to ensure your knees and hips are up to the stresses and occasional impacts of skiing. Build your cardiovascular fitness with cycling, running or another 'aerobic' activity. And get your skiing-specific muscles strong by doing plenty of lunges, squats and stair-climbing."
