Greenliant Now Shipping Industrial Grade SATA NANDrive(TM) Embedded SSDs

Meets Demand for Rugged, High Endurance BGA Solid State Drives

NUREMBERG, Germany, Feb. 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- EMBEDDED WORLD - Greenliant Systems, a leader in energy-efficient, highly secure and reliable solid state storage products, has started mass production of its industrial grade SATA interface NANDrive(TM) solid state drives (SSDs). Operating at temperatures between -40 and +85 degrees Celsius, I-grade SATA NANDrive devices keep customer data safe while withstanding extreme environments.

The industrial grade SATA NANDrive is currently available in 2 GByte, 4 GByte and 8 GByte, with higher capacities planned. These products combine Greenliant's internally developed NAND controller with single-level cell (SLC) NAND flash die for a fully integrated SSD in a multi-chip package. For applications requiring the endurance and speed of solid state storage in very small form factors, SATA NANDrive is one of the smallest SSDs at 14mm x 24mm x 1.95mm. Offered in a 145 ball grid array (BGA), 1mm ball pitch package for easy and firm mounting to a system motherboard, NANDrive is resistant to shock and vibration.

"The SATA NANDrive GLS85LS product family is backward compatible with the same pin-out across all capacities and temperature ranges -- commercial and industrial -- giving customers added flexibility when using solid state storage in their designs," said Nobu Higuchi, vice president of application engineering and product marketing, Greenliant Systems. "Because NANDrive protects against frequent NAND flash changes, it is an ideal SSD for embedded applications that need long-term support, such as industrial single-board computers, robotics, automation and control, military and automotive."

Greenliant is demonstrating NANDrive in booth 347 in hall 4 at Embedded World 2012, Nuremberg, Germany, February 28 - March 1. To schedule a meeting with Greenliant at Embedded World, email sales@greenliant.com.

The addition of I-grade SATA NANDrive devices builds on the success of Greenliant's C-grade SATA and I-grade/C-grade PATA products, expanding its portfolio of NANDrive embedded SSDs.

Advanced Security

The advanced security features of SATA NANDrive include a unique device ID, password protection and four independent zones that the user can set to different protection levels. In addition, SATA NANDrive allows the user to select specific areas of the SSD to "instant" erase sensitive content, instead of having to erase the entire drive.

Data Integrity Protection

SATA NANDrive's system-level firmware solution addresses NAND data retention issues, as well as preserves data integrity during power interrupts, reducing the risk of data loss.

Advanced Wear Leveling

Greenliant's NAND management technology is based on advanced static and dynamic wear-leveling algorithms that maximize the NANDrive lifespan allowing system engineers to address applications with long lifetime requirements such as industrial, medical, military, enterprise networking and automotive products.

Availability

Industrial grade 2 GByte, 4 GByte and 8 GByte SATA NANDrive devices are available now. Order GLS85LS products through a Greenliant authorized distributor and sales representative. Customers can also request NANDrive product samples and evaluation boards online.

About NANDrive(TM) Products

NANDrive manages all NAND flash complexities and allows embedded system designers to quickly integrate mass data storage solutions into their designs without having to make any firmware changes. Because NANDrive complies with ATA interface protocols supported by all standard embedded operating systems, designers no longer face costly, time-consuming host software revalidation cycles. To further ease system integration and simplify inventory management, NANDrive solves the compatibility and obsolescence issues of pairing a NAND controller with new NAND flash devices. As an integrated multi-chip package solution, NANDrive eliminates the need for long qualification cycles when there is a change of NAND flash technology; customers need only qualify the NANDrive as a mass storage subsystem.
