Verizon Mobile Satellite Solutions Ready to Respond When Storms Threaten
Mobile Private IP Services Provide Reliable Communications for Business Continuity Needs to Businesses of All Sizes
NEW YORK, March 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- As the storm season begins, Verizon will be offering general availability of its Mobile Satellite Solutions to provide dependable backup services and enhanced disaster recovery when normal communications are disrupted.
"When Mother Nature unexpectedly disrupts communications, Verizon's Mobile Satellite Services can get businesses back in business by providing private IP customers with access to their networks from virtually any place in the U.S. within satellite coverage," said Stuart Burson, group manager, Verizon Satellite Solutions Group. "Time and time again, Verizon has proven it is responsive, reliable, and offers the flexibility and coordination that satellite projects require."
Building on its extensive experience providing satellite services, Verizon has enhanced its Mobile Satellite Solutions suite, originally announced last August, with an environmentally controlled inflatable shelter that joins other service equipment such as auto deploy kits, communications trailers and an executive coach vehicle.
These 20-by-20-foot air shelters provide a complete communications solution incorporating Verizon satellite, wireless and IP data networks. With a rapid setup of less than 20 minutes, the air shelter has ample workspace with solid doors, a floor, windows and integrated LED lighting to provide a safe, comfortable work area for up to 12 adults, while protecting them from severe weather conditions.
In addition to the numerous equipment configurations available, Mobile Satellite Solutions includes experienced planning and integration assistance to reduce the risk of interruptions that can impact communications.
Beyond business continuity, customers looking for primary access, digital signage, IPTV or content delivery will find that Verizon's Mobile Satellite Solutions allows them to take advantage of the powerful combination of advanced satellite technology and Verizon's global IP network.
Part of Verizon's Private IP service suite, Mobile Satellite Solutions includes 24/7 remote monitoring of the equipment and an on-site technician to provide reliable communication services where traditional terrestrial services are unavailable, unreliable or expensive.
Using an MPLS switching-based virtual private network, Mobile Satellite Solutions offers the scalability and any-to-any connectivity of IP communications while providing a high level of security. With quick and easy implementation, Verizon can deliver these mobile satellite solutions virtually anywhere in the continental U.S. within 24 to 36 hours, depending on the specific configuration. The solutions provide the bandwidth, high availability, performance and quality of service required to meet today's complex business needs.
Verizon has extensive experience in this field, having designed and implemented global satellite-based communication services for several decades. Currently, the company provides connectivity to thousands of satellite terminals around the world that support a variety of industries and applications.
The company has used mobile satellite technology to provide humanitarian services following a variety of natural and other disasters including Hurricanes Irene, Katrina and Rita, the Sept. 11 World Trade Center attacks, the Oklahoma City bombing, as well as a number of floods and wildfires.
