CALABASAS, Calif. and ACTON, Mass., March 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- National Technical Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTSC) (NTS), a leading provider of testing and engineering services, announced today that its National Quality Assurance USA (NQA, USA) subsidiary has been accredited by the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB) to certify private sector companies to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)-selected standards under the voluntary Private Sector Preparedness Program called PS-Prep(TM), the first company in the U.S. to receive this approval.
PS-Prep(TM) is a partnership between the DHS and the private sector with the goal of enhancing nationwide resilience in an all-hazards environment by requiring organizations to improve their disaster readiness and response capabilities.

"We are very proud to play a vital role in the emergency preparedness efforts of the DHS and the private sector. It is also great to see that the unique capabilities of our NQA, USA subsidiary are being recognized by the U.S. government and many of our nation's leading companies."
PS-Prep requires companies in the private sector to enhance their capabilities for planning, responding to and recovering from natural disasters and other threats, according to a press release from the DHS. PS-Prep covers a variety of subjects, including risk assessment and business impact analysis, incident management, emergency response and business continuity programs.
"PS-Prep promises to be an important program for our entire country, as well as a significant new initiative for NQA, USA," said Kevin Beard, President of NQA, USA. "We are very pleased to be the first in the country to receive this accreditation, which reflects very well on our entire organization."
Each private sector organization certified in the PS-Prep program will be listed on a public register in recognition of the achievement.
