DFW International Airport and AT&T Reach Deal to Power Travelers with Free Wi-Fi
Airport among AT&T's largest customer Wi-Fi network locations with service extending to terminals, parking garages and ramp areas
DFW INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, Texas, April 5, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport today announced it has reached an agreement with AT&T* to provide free Wi-Fi to all visitors at the Airport. The agreement, approved today by the DFW Board of Directors, cites that AT&T will provide free Wi-Fi across DFW's five terminals, totaling more than six million square feet of terminal space. Starting in September, customers will be able to access the complimentary Wi-Fi service by viewing a 30-second advertisement for every 40 minutes of network usage.
"The deal to provide AT&T Wi-Fi access across DFW Airport is a tremendous leap forward for our passengers in terms of speed and coverage area, and it answers one of our most frequently-requested customer enhancements," said Jeff Fegan, CEO of DFW International Airport. "We are very pleased to join with AT&T, our Dallas-based neighbor, to provide world-class and complimentary Wi-Fi service for everyone who visits DFW."
The AT&T Wi-Fi network at DFW will include significant upgrades to the Airport's current Wi-Fi network, including faster speeds and a wider coverage area. AT&T Wi-Fi service will expand to include terminals, DFW terminal parking garages and gate accessible areas where travelers will be able to connect safely while boarding and deplaning flights.
"Consumers want to stay connected wherever they are, especially when they're traveling," said Angie Wiskocil, SVP of AT&T Wi-Fi Services. "We're proud to enhance the customer experience with AT&T Wi-Fi, which will give customers a fast and convenient way to log on throughout DFW International Airport."
"We're extremely excited to provide free Wi-Fi for our 57 million annual travelers, because it fits right in with our goal of maintaining a superior level of customer service at DFW," said Ken Buchanan, executive vice president for revenue management at DFW. "We felt it was critical from a competitive standpoint for us to provide free Wi-Fi, and AT&T really stepped up to make it happen."
