SINGAPORE, April 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com), a global leader in providing ICT services announced on April 27 the official inauguration of its Singapore Serangoon Data Center and Malaysia Cyberjaya 3 Data Center, the former of which will serve financial-services companies and similar enterprises that require high-power, low-latency networks and stable, secure infrastructure on which to build private clouds.
The two facilities, NTT Com's first self-designed-and-built data centers outside Japan, are the company's fourth such facility in Singapore and the third in Malaysia. They will provide key support for NTT Com's ongoing expansion in the fast-growing Asia Pacific region, where the company already operates data centers in 13 countries.
Singapore Serangoon Data Center is located in northeastern Singapore. The tier III+ data center offers co-location, cloud services, NTT Com's global network services and other related services. Key features are specifically designed to cater to companies in the financial, information technology and manufacturing sectors. The data center is connected directly to the Asia Submarine-cable Express (ASE), NTT Com's new undersea cable offering high-speed, high-reliability network environment between Singapore and other Asian locations including Japan. The facility hosts 2,500 racks in a total server room area measuring 5,000 square meters. Investment in the facility is about 12.4 billion JPY (approximately SGD 190 million).
Yoshio Chikayasu, CIO of HOYA, a Japanese multinational med-tech company and the leading supplier of innovative precision products based on its optics technologies, said: "HOYA chose the Singapore Serangoon Data Center's highly reliable and flexible network environment to serve as an Asian hub for the company's globally shared ICT platform. NTT Com is the ideal partner to help us expand our global operations because it provides total ICT services, from networks and data centers to clouds and applications, all on a seamless, end-to-end, one-stop basis."
"We warmly welcome NTT Communications' decision to construct its first self-designed and built green data center outside of Japan here in Singapore," said Jayson Goh, Executive Director of Infocomms and Media for The Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB). "NTT Communications' latest data center will add to the vibrancy of the infocomms ecosystem here and further reinforce Singapore's position as a global data management hub. We are confident that NTT Communications will be able to leverage Singapore's IT infrastructure and market connectivity, as well as our business-friendly environment, to enhance the delivery of services to its clients both in the region and globally."
"I am pleased that NTT Com has chosen Singapore to anchor this premium, high-performance data center for the region. This affirms Singapore's position as a globally trusted hub for business critical IT services and capabilities," said Mr Ronnie Tay, Chief Executive Officer of the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA), who is also the Guest of Honour for the Serangoon Data Center inauguration ceremony. "I look forward to NTT Com leveraging Singapore's strengths in infocomm infrastructure, data center capacity and
large presence of technology players to expand its operations here, including through collaborating with our infocomm local enterprises in developing next generation ICT solutions."
The second facility, Malaysia Cyberjaya 3 Data Center, started its operation on April 26. It is an ideal as a remote back-up and offshore site due to Malaysia's low electricity rates and stable infrastructure. An NTT Com-operated annex building will offer customers convenient on-site office space. For more information, visit http://www.my.ntt.com/en/products-services/data-center-services.
