Yes Satellite Television Service Provider Says 'Yes' to Radware's ADC and Application Security Solutions
Israel's only direct broadcast satellite television service provider wanted best-of-breed solution for global load balancing and cyber security for its video-on-demand service
MAHWAH, New Jersey, May 23, 2012/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --

Radware [http://www.Radware.com ] (NASDAQ: RDWR) a leading provider of application
delivery [http://www.radware.com/Products/ApplicationDelivery/default.aspx ] and
application security
[http://www.radware.com/Products/ApplicationNetworkSecurity/default.aspx ] solutions for
virtual and cloud data centers, today announced that Yes Satellite, Israel's only direct
broadcast satellite service provider, has successfully deployed Radware's AppDirector
[http://www.radware.com/Products/ApplicationDelivery/AppDirector/default.aspx ](R),
intelligent application delivery controller (ADC) platform, and Attack Mitigation System
[http://www.radware.com/Products/ApplicationNetworkSecurity/default.aspx ] (AMS) to help
it deliver uninterrupted video-on-demand-service to Yes's customers.
Yes Satellite launched its video-on-demand (VOD) service in March 2010 using
over-the-top technology to deliver high-quality video over an Internet connected home
network. During a recent expansion of the service, Yes Satellite needed extra service
capacity, requiring additional throughput for uninterrupted and secure service that could
scale over time when adding more users and services. In addition, Yes Satellite also
needed a solution to mitigate network attacks that might have threatened to disrupt
service to its subscribers.
To solve these challenges, Yes Satellite selected Radware's ADC solution for its
advanced global load balancing and on-demand scalability features that ensure the
availability and fast responsiveness of its VOD service with minimal latency to give
customers the best quality of experience. Also, with AppDirector's advanced Layer 4
through 7 policies and granular application intelligence for end-to-end networking, Yes
Satellite could eliminate traffic surges, server bottlenecks, connectivity disconnects and
server downtime in order to enable the service's access, continuity and redundancy.
Yes Satellite also chose Radware's AMS to protect its application infrastructure
against network and application cyber threats. Yes Satellite had been the target of
several cyber attacks in the recent past that included network scans and DNS floods. Yes
Satellite went with Radware's AMS, the industry's first fully integrated IT security
strategy and portfolio, because of its success protecting user's application
infrastructure in real time against network and application downtime, application
vulnerability exploitation, malware spread, information theft, web service attacks and web
defacement. Radware's AMS provides the most comprehensive solution to fight
multi-vulnerability campaigns that are hard to defend against because they are aimed at
multiple layers in the IT architecture, particularly at network infrastructure equipment,
servers and applications.
Radware supplements these capabilities by adding the human factor - the professional
security consultants of its Emergency Response Team (ERT) who are available around the
clock. As literal "first responders" to cyber attacks, Radware's ERT members gained their
extensive experience by successfully dealing with some of the industry's most notable
hacking episodes, providing the knowledge and expertise to mitigate the kind of attack a
business's security team may never have handled.
"Delivering video streaming applications through our VOD service required
highly-available bandwidth, advanced global load balancing and integrated security. A
critical point in our decision was being able to achieve this through a single vendor, and
Radware gave us that option," said Moti Stambulchick, head of infrastructure, Yes
Satellite. "Radware's AppDirector keeps our VOD customers' services always on; and if
there is a business continuity issue, it automatically redirects traffic to the nearest
available data center, so there is no interruption in service. Also, Radware's AMS
automatically detects and blocks any security threats including DNS floods or network
intrusion, providing an end-to-end system management solution."
The solution delivered a cost-effective, highly-scalable system to support increased
bandwidth traffic and network security without the need to add hardware. Not only has
Radware's AMS already detected and mitigated cyber attacks on the Yes Satellite network,
the combined solution is delivering best quality experience to Yes Satellite VOD
subscribers while saving Yes Satellite nearly 40 percent in deployment costs.
"Delivering on demand video streaming services to hundreds of thousands of subscribers
requires flexible solutions to meet application availability and performance demands while
mitigating network attacks," said Ofir Hatzor, regional director, France, Spain and Israel
Sales at Radware. "Yes Satellite demanded 'no excuses' application availability and
security, and Radware's AppDirector and AMS delivered. Our solutions provide Yes Satellite
with accelerated application performance and global server availability for fast, reliable
and secure delivery of VOD services with a multi-layered attack mitigation solution to
protect against emerging network attacks and application vulnerability exploitation."
