Information Services Group Launches Cloud Security Assessment

New service will help clients identify risks in their cloud computing initiatives

Evaluations against standards developed by Cloud Security Alliance will establish baseline of compliance, define priorities for corrective action

STAMFORD, Conn., June 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Information Services Group (ISG) (NASDAQ: III), a leading technology insights, market intelligence and advisory services company, announced today the launch of a Cloud Security Assessment service to help clients identify and address risks associated with their cloud computing initiatives.

"Many executives are conflicted about cloud services," said Steve Hall, Partner, ISG. "On the one hand, they're eager to reap the benefits of cloud computing. On the other hand, they're wary of the potential risks and uncertainty. This service will help our clients understand the current state of their cloud initiatives and point the way forward for them."

The ISG Cloud Security Assessment will be based on standards and guidelines defined by the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), a broad coalition of industry practitioners, corporations, associations and other key stakeholders dedicated to promoting best practices on security assurance within cloud computing environments and to providing education on the uses of cloud computing to help secure all other forms of computing. CSA activities include educational outreach via industry and online events and research on cloud computing security assurance issues. ISG became a corporate member of the CSA in May.

A key benefit of the ISG service will be to identify specific strengths with regard to security and compliance with CSA guidelines. The service will also identify performance gaps and define recommendations on how to realize improvement opportunities. This baseline analysis will give clients insight into cloud security requirements and equip them to take immediate steps to address current shortfalls and ensure future adherence to industry best practices.

"The ISG Cloud Security Assessment is designed to help clients understand their risk profile and identify their unique security requirements with regard to adopting cloud services," said Hall. "Equipped with this knowledge, they'll be better positioned to obtain assurances from cloud providers that their requirements are being met. Providers, meanwhile, will have clearer direction towards delivering an appropriate solution to their customers."
