RegScan, IPAA Launch EPA Air Module For Oil and Gas Production

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa., June 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- RegScan and the Independent Petroleum Association of America proudly announce the addition of the EPA Air module to the award-winning IPAA Environmental Compliance System.

The IPAA Environmental Compliance System - EPA Module is now available as a stand-alone suite. Its topics will also be integrated into the existing State suites and the Bureau of Land Management suite, Well Operators on Federal Land.

On April 17, 2012, the United States Environmental Protection Agency proposed new National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants, including those generated by oil and gas production. Many changes will take effect just 60 days after those regulations are published in the Federal Register.

"Back in 2000 EPA decided to target oil refiners as part of a national enforcement initiative, a move that cost the Industry more than $8 billion. Staying compliant can help oil and natural gas producers avoid a repeat performance," said Ned Ertel, President and CEO of RegScan. "Now that the Federal government is involved, it is more crucial than ever that the Industry have a trusted resource for tracking regulatory change."

Users of the IPAA Environmental Compliance System have instant online access to relevant regulations and statutes. Comprehensive State suites are fully integrated with permit applications and guidance documents, and all of the system's custom audit checklists were authored by industry-leading consultants with years of first-hand experience. Regulatory updates are seamless and automatic, so the most current information is always available.

The IPAA Environmental Compliance System was recently honored with an Environmental Business Journal Business Achievement Award for Project Merit. This one-of-a-kind compliance timeline outlines the regulatory requirements throughout a well's entire life cycle. Topics covered include:

    --  Pre-Drilling
    --  Drilling and Completion
    --  Well Production and Operation
    --  Well Plugging and Abandonment
