"In today's app-driven world, it's get-to-market quickly or die.  However, a majority of businesses rely on manual or script-based deployments that are slow, error-prone and too often fail, sometimes taking weeks to get a finished application up and running," said Electric Cloud CEO Mike Maciag. "With ElectricDeploy, businesses will be able to deploy their applications faster.  More importantly, its built-in fail-safe capabilities will enable the development and operations teams to reduce errors and deliver higher-quality applications consistently."

Findings from a recent survey conducted by Electric Cloud of more than 730 applications development and operations professionals indicate that 75 percent of today's application deployments are done manually or with little automation.  70 percent of respondents stated that their deployments take more than one day, while 50 percent acknowledged completely missing release dates due to deployment complexity and lack of coordination between their development and operations teams. The survey also found that more than 70 percent of application deployments occur in development, QA, and pre-production environments before being deployed into production environments.

"Application deployment is definitely the 'weak link' for today's development and ops organizations since both teams do many deployments during application release," said Ronni J. Colville, vice president and distinguished analyst at Gartner. "Deployment automation improves the consistency, reliability and visibility of the application deployments across all these environments. Equally important, an integrated solution that enables the Dev and Ops teams to iteratively refine and improve the deployment process is key to enabling DevOps and error-free production deployments."

ElectricDeploy automates and standardizes application deployments across all environments - Dev, QA, pre-production and production by modeling applications, related environments, and processes that deploy and recover applications.  This model-driven approach reduces the variability of deployments across multiple environments, enabling teams to reliably and more rapidly deploy applications.  ElectricDeploy also provides centralized visibility and control of deployments, allowing teams to manage and track release processes across the application delivery lifecycle.

"Equinix uses agile software development practices and we do many deployments in our software release cycle," said Jaganathan Jeyapaul, senior director of global software engineering at Equinix. "We believe that the Electric Cloud approach to application deployment is very pragmatic. A common solution that works across development and operations organizations is a must for reducing deployment errors and improving DevOps collaboration."

ElectricDeploy reduces the occurrences and impacts of deployment failures in production environments through its fail-safe features by refining deployment processes throughout the application delivery pipeline from development to operations.  These fail-safe features integrate three distinct capabilities:

--  Code-Safe offers run-time debugging capabilities to interactively refine
        deployment processes.
--  Run-Safe lets teams define success and failure thresholds for
application deployments so that deployments can account for real-world
        solutions.
--  Recover-Safe enables teams to define recovery policies and processes for
        dynamic management of deployment failures.
ElectricDeploy automates end-to-end delivery processes with the flexibility and scale needed to deliver applications quickly, reliably, securely and continuously to their customers.
