Today I will be reviewing Epox's latest edition to their i865PE (Springdale) based motherboards. The EP-4PDA5+ is not your everyday Springdale motherboard. Although it is not targeted towards the enthusiast market, you will see in the upcoming pages that if you didn't know what chipset this motherboard was powered by, you would swear it was a Canterwood.

Spring 2004 is heating up with new AMD64 chipsets from both VIA and Nvidia. Almost simultaneously we have seen samples of the VIA K8T800 Pro (not K8T800A) and the Nvidia nForce 2 250GB. These new chipsets up the performance and feature stakes for AMD's flagship CPU line. In today's article we will look at Socket 940 chipset performance. It is true that Socket 939 is around the corner, but that doesn't mean 940 is dead. 940 will live up with Opteron to retain the registered memory support server and workstation platforms need. The first new chipset in socket 940 format we have seen is the VIA K8T800 Pro demo board. Let's take a quick look at this board.
