Global Women's Empowerment Network Launches Online Community to Connect and Empower Those Suffering from Abuse

GWEN Harnesses Power of Technology and Multimedia to Unite Audiences Worldwide

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Global Women's Empowerment Network (GWEN) has launched a global online non-profit community that harnesses the power of technology and multimedia to connect and empower those suffering from abuse.

Through mobile and online platforms, GWEN provides communication and cause-related solutions that inspire victims from around the globe to cultivate, strengthen, and share their inner voice to gain confidence and heal. While GWEN's primary audience is women of all ages who have faced abuse, men are also welcome into the community.

GWEN's technology and multimedia hub provides GWEN members, viewers, and contributors a safe, nurturing and judgment-free forum for creative expression.  It allows victims to share their stories of tragedy to triumph, while providing an opportunity to access tools that empower themselves, their families, and their community.

GWEN is releasing its first technology product, a mobile application, and a PSA video contest in September.  Additional plans include outreach programs around specific types of abuse including bullying and domestic abuse, interactive online courses, collaborative media strategies, a live-streaming web series, healthy product lines and more.

GWEN co-founder and COO Tess Cacciatore is an award-winning producer, videographer, journalist and social entrepreneur who has dedicated her life to advocate for peace, justice and equality around the world.  Cacciatore founded the organization with CEO Michael Feintech Littenberg, a successful entrepreneur with a passion for creative expression and a commitment to civil rights and social justice.

For Cacciatore, GWEN is the culmination of more than 20 years working as a producer in the entertainment and technology industries and working in the international arena for causes benefitting children, youth and women.  "GWEN is a powerful combination of a safe forum for expression; technology that connects victims with other victims; hope for those ready to move beyond abuse; and access to support.  This organization unites everything I've worked for and we have the passion, the technology and the focus to help women move beyond abuse."

The organization is seeking mentors and coaches.  If interested, please email media@gwennetwork.org.  For more information on GWEN, please visit:
