Fleetwood Deploys Rand McNally TND(TM) 760 Fleetwide
TND(TM) 760 chosen for ability to support Fleetwood's five divisions
SKOKIE, Ill., Aug. 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Rand McNally announced that Fleetwood Transportation Services, Inc. has selected the TND(TM) 760 fleet management solution for its 120-truck fleet. Fleetwood, based in Diboll, Texas, is a multi-faceted company comprising a forest products division, a flatbed division, an energy division, a dry van division, and a port operation in Houston, Texas.
After a short testing period, Fleetwood chose the TND(TM) 760 for its ease of installation, robust fleet management features, International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) reporting capabilities, and affordable pricing.
"Rand McNally's TND(TM) 760 had the requirements we needed to address all lines of our business, and was priced in such a way that it made sense to deploy it now across our entire fleet," said Mark Prowell, CEO of Fleetwood. Rand McNally's technology platform enabled it to build a very cost-effective, easy to use, and easy to install single-box device. The TND(TM) 760 seamlessly integrates with a truck's on-board computer and sends and receives information via both Wi-Fi and cellular modes. Designed to be set up in less than 30 minutes, the TND(TM) 760 does not require the installation of a separate "black box" monitoring unit like traditional mobile communication systems.
Prowell's team at Fleetwood plans to use the TND(TM) 760's features to eliminate paperwork where possible, such as with the IFTA reporting, and hours of service logs. The company also will drive efficiencies for its drivers and dispatchers by using Rand McNally's award-winning navigation, and real-time vehicle location information to communicate estimated delivery times to customers. Finally, monitoring driver behavior such as idling and hard breaking will help drive accountability.
Fleetwood will use Rand McNally Connect software to integrate information coming from the in-cab TND(TM) 760 devices with McLeod's LoadMaster 10.1 fleet management system.
Prowell also shared that the company driver feedback has been positive to date. His company will encourage all of their owner-operator vehicles, which make up two-thirds of their fleet, to implement the TND(TM) 760 in the future.
Despite its compact design and affordable price, the TND(TM) 760 features a broad array of capabilities including fleet communications via email, driver and vehicle performance monitoring, electronic hours of service (HOS) compliance, and truck-specific navigation. Information on fleet activity is managed via Rand McNally's Connect web-based portal.
