LG, In Cooperation With Sybase, Unveils Enhanced Enterprise-Grade Mobile Device Management Solutions On LG Devices

LG's First Release of MDM-enabled Mobile Device Available through Verizon Wireless Enhances Security, Manageability for Enterprises

SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- LG Electronics USA announced today the enhanced enterprise-grade security functionalities on LG's premium mobile device on the Verizon Wireless network - Intuition(TM) by LG. Through cooperation with an industry-leading provider of mobile device management (MDM) solutions, Sybase Inc., an SAP company, at least 50 MDM features are now available on top of existing stock Android MDM features, enabling robust augmentation of mobile device management capabilities for enterprise IT.

"LG's collaboration with Sybase to enable enterprise-grade Android OS is a testament to our continued efforts to respond to our enterprise customers' enhanced needs for security and manageability," said Ki S. Kim, corporate vice president and head of Global Enterprise B2B Mobility Solutions at LG Electronics. "We are excited to introduce LG's range of MDM-enabled mobile devices in the market and look forward to more upcoming releases in the near future."

Due to pressures from BYOD (Bring-Your-Own-Device) initiatives, enterprises are faced with constant security and manageability challenges as employees are increasing their access to secure enterprise data on personal devices for work. In cooperation with Sybase, LG is capable of enabling enterprise-grade security functionalities to help achieve enforcement of corporate security policies such as restricting the use of Bluetooth®, Wi-Fi(TM), Internet browser, screen capture and messaging technologies.

Enterprise customers will also benefit from enhanced device manageability through the granular control and management of employees' devices, for example, setting up email accounts, configuring VPN, deploying and installing applications, as well as controlling running applications. These MDM features complement existing technological features including LTE support capabilities, dual-core processor, significant battery live and QuickMemo(TM )to transform Intuition by LG into a highly desirable device for mobile workers.

"Enabling the SAP® Afaria® mobile device management solution features on LG's new, powerful LTE mobile device provides an optimized user experience for users and enterprise administrators alike," said Salil Jain, global vice president, Center of Excellence for Mobile Solutions, SAP. "Through our collaboration with LG, we have increased productivity on personal devices but at the same time, made them manageable by the enterprise."

Enhanced MDM capabilities extend freedom to employees who want to use their personal phones for work. To achieve this, enforcement of corporate policies has to be simple and hassle-free, for example with remote installation and removal of corporate applications by the IT administrator.
