IBA Group Celebrates 20 Years of IT Excellence
PRAGUE, April 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
IBA Group - http://www.ibagroupit.com, an alliance of IT companies with more than
2,500 people, is celebrating its 20th anniversary. A series of events will be held in
Belarus, the Czech Republic, Great Britain, the Russian Federation, and Kazakhstan. The
celebration will begin in April in Minsk, the birthplace of IBA Group.
The company's traditions go back to the 1960s. Those were the days when the IT
industry of Belarus began growing dramatically. Computer research and computer production
organizations, as well as IT education facilities were established. As IBM-compatible
computers were produced in the country, local programmers were experts in IBM mainframe
architecture.
In the 1980s, people from IBM came to Minsk, the Belarusian capital. At that time, the
city was already known as one of the largest IT centers in the USSR because of the
computer production facilities and design institutes concentrated here. Minsk supplied 60
percent of the USSR demand for computer production.
These developments led IBM to expand into the region with a joint venture with two
Belarusian companies, namely the Computer Research Institute and the Minsk Computer
Production Association. As a result, the International Business Alliance (IBA) was formed
in 1993. However, the joint venture did not last long and IBM withdrew as a part owner of
IBA in line with its strategy. IBA went on operating independently.
In 2005, following the admission of the Czech Republic to the European Union, the
company relocated its headquarters to Prague. Eventually, the small company evolved into
the international IBA Group of more than 2,500 employees and offices in ten countries.
At present, the company's portfolio comprises over 200 proprietary products, numerous
vertical industry solutions, and an array of IT services. The IBA's expertise ranges from
mainframe software and SAP solutions to business intelligence, corporate performance
management, and mobile applications.
Global giants like IBM, SAP, Fujitsu Technology Solutions, Goodyear, and Rockwell
Automation, partner with IBA on hundreds of projects in software engineering, development,
migration, and maintenance.
IBA Group supports IT education in Belarus and the Czech Republic through training
courses and R&D laboratories, and is a sponsor of international and national contests
among IT students.
Sergei Levteev, IBA Group Chairman, comments: "April 2013 marks the 20 anniversary of
IBA Group and it is truly a milestone for the company. We are proud to have grown to where
we are today. We achieved our goals through the collective dedication of our employees and
by building trust and confidence with our customers. We survived and became even stronger
after the dot-com bubble of 2001-2002 and the recent economic crisis. We grew sustainably
from year to year. Today, we look forward to the next twenty years of serving our clients,
supporting our employees, and growing young talents."
