TORONTO, April 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ - ViXS Systems Inc., a leading provider of
smart network multimedia processors and MELD Technology, leading
provider of Pico Broadcast Systems, sending your content to any DTV
ever made today announced the release of the MT300 series of Pico
Broadcasters. MELD's patented Pico Broadcasters enable use of TV
White Space spectrum for sending HD video and control signals
over-the-air using unlicensed spectrum.
The XCode 4208 System on Chip (SoC), is the brains and video processing
brawn for MELD's feature-rich family of industry leading products. The
MELD transmitter uses a standard TV signal to efficiently transmit
multiple HD video streams and control many TVs wirelessly at a
dramatically reduced cost, compared to other media distribution
technologies. These benefits make the solution ideal for intelligent
signage applications used in airports, hotels and restaurants,
convention centers, schools and hospitals. If you can plug a TV into an
electric outlet, you have an instant content viewing platform that is
limited only by the number of TVs you have in the transmit range of the
MT300.
"The MT300 is an excellent compliment to a digital media player because
it eliminates the complexity, clutter and restrictions of connecting
cables," said Jordan DuVal, President/CEO of MELD. "It also reduces
the time and cost for deployment and content distribution. By shrinking
the cost and complexity of the same proven technology used by
professional broadcasters, businesses of all sizes can now Personally
Broadcast their content directly to any DTV. The fact that the Vixs
Xcode 4208 SOC MIPs processor with embedded Linux runs our webserver
application while also performing the broadcast quality video encoding
has been a major benefit for MELD."
MELD's system uses TV White Space spectrum to reliably send large
amounts of HD resolution video using the same type of UHF spectrum as
broadcasters. This enables excellent coverage and non-line-of-site
connectivity. It obtains the available UHF white space channels for
streaming from the Spectrum Bridge spectrum management database. The
MELD solution complies with ATSC standards and uses the same
frequencies standard Digital TV can already receive.
"The MELD Pico Broadcaster is a world's first and we are proud to be an
essential part of this product," said John Pomeroy, Vice President of
ViXS' Infrastructure product line, "The benefit of wireless video
broadcast enabled by the ViXS Xcode technologies is that it meets all
the performance and financial needs of a growing market. This is a
game changing opportunity to simplify and reduce deployment cost of
video solutions, while reducing installation down time, maintaining
high video quality, and ease of use."
