EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., June 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- MTS Systems Corporation (NASDAQ: MTSC), a leading global supplier of high-performance test systems and position sensors, proudly recognized the 40th anniversary of its business in Germany with a celebration event held on 23 May 2013 at the MTS European Headquarters in Berlin.  In addition to customers and MTS employees, both current and former, the 40th anniversary event in Berlin was attended by representatives of the German government, U.S. Embassy officials and the MTS Board of Directors.  MTS opened its first European office in the early 1970s in what was then West Berlin, spurred by economic incentives and a desire to do business in one of the world's leading locations for engineering innovation. Since that time, MTS has expanded across Europe and throughout the world.

In commemorating this important milestone, Dr. Jeffrey Graves, President and CEO of MTS Systems, stated "MTS-Germany is the foundation of our decades-long European business, which has grown from its start in Berlin across Western Europe and increasingly into the growth markets of Eastern Europe, today accounting for roughly one-third of our company's revenue.  With a rich culture of engineering excellence, MTS' European customers and university relationships across the automotive, aerospace, energy and materials markets are key to achieving our growth strategy."

To support the rapidly growing needs of the German automakers, MTS proudly announces the opening of its newest European office in Stuttgart, Germany.  This new office will provide increased sales, engineering and service support for our Test customers in Germany.  The German automotive industry is renowned for leadership in innovation and engineering excellence, and increasing local presence for MTS will increase our partnership capability both within Germany and in the emerging markets as they expand their development capabilities into these rapidly growing regions.  Leveraging MTS' global infrastructure will help these customers ensure consistency in testing equipment and methods globally.

In announcing the opening of the Stuttgart office, Dr. Graves stated, "By increasing our local support in Germany and leveraging our extensive local support capabilities in China and other developing countries, MTS is uniquely positioned to help our customers meet their product development challenges.  Combining our test expertise with their R&D leadership will reduce their development cycle time and lower costs, while maintaining world-class standards for product development across a complex global network of laboratories."
