ARRIS Launches Hybrid Fiber Coax Portfolio for European Cable Service Providers

Following acquisition of Motorola Home, ARRIS introduces new portfolio of optical nodes and RF amplifiers to improve network efficiency and drive multiscreen innovation in Europe

COLOGNE, Germany, June 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- ANGA COM-ARRIS Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: ARRS) has launched an updated portfolio of Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) optics, nodes, and amplifiers designed for European cable service providers to scale their networks to deliver the advanced multiscreen services that consumers crave.

This complete portfolio of HFC products will be on display for the first time at ANGA COM 2013. European service providers will get a preview of these transformative solutions, which are geared towards delivering additional HD channels, VOD support, and faster broadband in the near term, while opening to door to future services like Ultra-HD.

"Research shows that subscribers' multiscreen habits are growing rapidly, and our service provider customers want to keep ahead of that demand," said Steve McCaffery, EMEA General Manager, ARRIS. "However, multiscreen and TV everywhere put considerable strain on the broadband network, so our customers are looking to ARRIS' leadership in HFC to enable their shift to IP-based networks."

Key Benefits of Expanded ARRISPortfolio for European Operators

    --  Flexible Design
    --  Increased Network Performance/Expanded Capacity
    --  Cost Efficiencies

ARRIS UCN224, UCN212 UCA222 and UCA212 Full-Featured Compact Nodes and RF Amplifiers

The ARRIS portfolio of full-featured compact nodes and RF amplifiers has been designed with simplicity, economy, and performance in mind. Engineered for European requirements with three outputs (two active), they are flexible enough to suit a number of different architectures and scenarios -- legacy and modern -- and offer excellent performance in every setting.

The nodes and amps have been streamlined -- removing many of the plug-ins required in historical situations so that, with fewer components to manage, mistakes are less likely and installation time is reduced. UCN224 and UCN212 also feature enhanced Gallium Arsenide performance that provides high RF output levels, making them equally well suited to deploy as a fiber-deep nodes.

Investment Protection
ARRIS is showcasing its leadership in complex HFC network design through multi-wavelength capabilities, pluggable modules, and scalability to 1.2GHz networks -- allowing cable service providers to economically scale to future applications.

Cost-Effective Installation
One of the key features within the new node and amp portfolio is the innovative Electronics Package (E-Pack), which enables an ARRIS amplifier to be easily upgraded to a node within the existing housing. European providers can now repurpose existing amplifier housings, such as fiber nodes, by efficiently installing the new system using only the E-Pack and Lid swap, avoiding the costly downtime of removing out the entire housing to make the upgrade. As a result, they can quickly upgrade their network -- reducing installation times and avoiding costly downtime associated with removing the entire unit.

Performance and Reliability
For many service providers, it has been more than 10 years since the last major network upgrade, and ageing equipment does not have the reliability and performance required to meet today's customer expectations. As operators launch new multiscreen services to the home it is vital that the network has the necessary capacity and reliability. The ARRIS HFC portfolio, together with its industry-leading professional services, delivers the products and expertise to cost-effectively plan and deploy the HFC network of tomorrow.

The new ARRIS optical nodes and RF amplifiers became part of the ARRIS portfolio through the company's acquisition of Motorola Home. ARRIS combines world-class solutions for the entire video delivery chain by integrating innovative technologies across the cloud, network and home.

ARRIS will be demonstrating its new HFC portfolio at ANGA COM 4 - 6 Jun in Cologne (Booths #K11 and #E21).
