Electronic Cigarette Users Called to Save e-Cigs and Lives Along With Them

EDINBURGH, Scotland, June 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --

Electronic cigarette users given the chance to form a united voice on the EU

Tobacco Products Directive through SKYCIGs 'write to your MEP' campaign

Launching today, SKYCIG, a leading UK electronic cigarette provider and member of
ECITA (Electronic Cigarette Industry Trade Association), unveils a dedicated 'write to
your MEP' webpage, giving SKYCIG's 250,000 nationwide electronic cigarette users an
opportunity to make a united stand on the proposed changes to the European Union Tobacco
Products Directive (TPD).

The MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency) recently announced its
intention to have electronic cigarettes classified as medicinal products and to require a
licence by 2016, similar to proposals put forward by Parliament in Brussels. These strict
regulations will make electronic cigarettes more difficult for users to access than their
undisputedly more harmful counterparts, traditional cigarettes; however the majority of
the industry believes that, in the long term, revisions to the EU TPD take precedence over
the MHRA announcement.

Douglas Mutter, Operations Manager, SKYCIG: "As an ECITA member, SKYCIG firmly oppose
the views of MHRA and feel that this is an unjustifiable restriction on a product which
has the potential to save lives as an alternative to traditional cigarettes. This campaign
will hopefully bring some common sense to the debate and encourage better enforcement of
current regulations without the need for unnecessary medical classification."

By simply accessing SKYCIG's dedicated 'write to your MEP' webpage, which can be found
at http://www.skycig.co.uk/ecita, and writing a short letter expressing their concern
about the new directive, users will be able to submit their opinion on the issue to their
local Member of the European Parliament.

SKYCIG will collate every letter submitted and send them directly to the local MEP of
each consumer, thereby giving the UK's electronic cigarette users a single, strong voice
over the issue of regulation, without needing to take time out to fit in with MEP surgery
hours or to write and post a letter.

SKYCIG has been the most trusted electronic cigarette brand within the United Kingdom
for a number of years and has established a large market share in the growing industry,
voted 'Best Electronic Cigarette in the UK' in 2011 by Smoking.com. Electronic cigarettes
are regarded as the nation's top smoking alternative and the largest UK based brand,
SKYCIG, have reported to have quadrupled their sales in the first quarter of 2012. The
benefits regarding health are already pushing product sales for electronic cigarettes,
especially SKYCIG, with the product not containing all the harmful chemicals that regular
tobacco cigarettes do, nor do they produce second-hand smoke. As well as SKYCIG providing
a healthier alternative, they also provide a variety of different flavours to accommodate
everyone's taste buds, from Crown Vanilla, Crown Cherry, Crown Menthol, Cinnamon, Tobacco
Gold, Crown Tobacco and Classic Tobacco.
