Calling all budding photographers! National Geographic Kids has launched their latest
competition to find the National Geographic Kids' Young Photographer of the Year! The
lucky winner will scoop a trip to Zambia in Southern Africa with their family, plus a
personal photography masterclass, a Canon DSLR camera and loads of other photography
goodies. The contest will be judged by National Geographic photographer Reza, top wildlife
photographer Sue Flood and children's TV presenter Barney Harwood.
"A visit to Zambia will be the trip of a lifetime for a talented young photographer -
we're very pleased to be able to offer such an incredible prize. We can't wait to look
through all the fantastic entries!" Tim Herbert, Editor of National Geographic Kids

This amazing competition is not to be missed! As well as experiencing stunning
landscapes and extraordinary wildlife in Zambia, the winner will also receive a lesson in
how to capture the amazing scenery on their brand new Canon camera from top wildlife
photographer Sue Flood and, If that wasn't enough, the Young Photographer of the Year will
also scoop a photo book, photo mug and photo t-shirt!
Three runners up will also win a Canon DSLR camera worth GBP500 and a photo book, and
a further 10 runners up will receive a set of four-photo posters!
How to enter
There are four categories in the National Geographic Photographer of the Year
competition: People, Animals, Scenery and Humour. Entrants can submit one photo per
category via email to photocomp@ngkids.co.uk
Make sure that the subject line contains the entrant's name and the category entered.
Entrants must also include their name, age, contact details and a caption for the picture
in the body of the email. Entrants may only send four emails in total (one per category)
and photos must be in the Jpeg format and sized between 1.5 and 10 MB. When entering by
email, entrants certify that they took the photo themselves and that a parent/guardian has
agreed to their participation. Entrants must be 14 years or younger. The closing date is
31 October 2013.
