Raising the Bar: Introducing the LulzBot TAZ 2

Fifth generation 3D printer garners $228,840 on Fundable platform

LOVELAND, Colo., Oct. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- On the heels of a highly successful launch of the LulzBot(TM) TAZ 1 earlier this year, Aleph Objects, Inc. announces the release of its fifth generation TAZ 3D desktop printer. After already raising $228,840 on the Fundable platform, the TAZ 2 continues to gain unprecedented traction through http://www.fundable.com/lulzbot-taz.

New to the TAZ 2, the printer features an LCD display with an SD card reader that allows users to make prints without being attached to a computer. With the largest build volume of any printer in its class--approximately 12" X 11" X 10"--users can enjoy a new level of freedom with the same fine resolution prints and the ability to swap out or modify nozzles.

"At Aleph Objects, we're continually evolving our LulzBot 3D printers to not only meet marketplace needs in real-time but to raise industry standards for 3D printing as a whole," said Jeff Moe, President and Founder. "Our latest printer, the TAZ 2, represents our community-driven approach by capturing the best-of-class in ideas from engineers and innovators around the world."

LulzBot designs, builds and sells desktop 3D printers, parts and plastics for engineers, entrepreneurs, inventors, and makers. Founded on the philosophy of Libre Hardware, meaning people should be free to use, learn from, and improve the machines they use, LulzBot is the only 3D printer line to carry the Free Software Foundation's Respects Your Freedom (RYF) certification mark.

Having already established themselves as an innovator in the 3D printing industry, the Lulzbot team is partnering with Fundable to leverage the power of crowdfunding to further scale their business and meet the high customer demand. The TAZ 2 can be pre-ordered through Oct. 31 via http://www.fundable.com/lulzbot-taz.

Robust and reliable, the TAZ 2 represents the company's move toward large-scale manufacturing by using more laser cut parts than before, including a metal electronics box with a quieter fan. TAZ 3D printers also gives users the ability to dial in accuracy and repeatability because of the broad selection of print programs and wide variety of printing materials available, such as PLA, ABS, HIPs, wood, and nylon. LulzBot offers on-going user support and upgrades through its online forum: http://forum.lulzbot.com.
